I would think if this were later December or January we would be enjoying a dynamic situation where the main storm was mainly wind and rain off the Atlantic followed by a quick dumping of snow for some last night with more of an inverted trough look. This morning would probably be more snow squalls.

Media Delaware County picked up 1.10” in 30 minutes a few flashes of lighting one was a strike fairly good boom of thunder followed by lightning streaking across the sky. Steady light rain still falling looks like a new storm developing with upper support right over the area.
-
Media Delaware County picked up 2.97" guess we were an isolated high amount winds were howling too strongest gust to 44 mph.
-
Well guess the HRE model you talked about was right Floyd 2.0. Just an incredible day!

It has not rained a drop since 7:30 this morning in Media Delaware County. I would think it is pretty simple right now where ever it is not raining right now has the severe thunderstorm and tornado threat. Heaviest rain clearly stays well north and west of Philadelphia until it collapses down with the severe threat and possible tornadoes towards 2:30 pm or so beyond. Currently in Media Delaware County Cloudy 71 Wildwood is Sunny and 84 with a 77 degree dew point that is high octane stuff. I am surprised there is no Tornado Watch yet.

2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season Tracking Thread
Kevin Reilly replied to WxWatcher007's topic in Mid Atlantic
I was thinking the same thing -
Jersey shore getting hammered right now heavy rain moving onshore

Ida 935 mb 150 mph….models showing a lot of rain here Wednesday to Thursday as it combines with an upper air low and stalled cold front quite a potential problem for our area.
-
Very very true I’m totally supporting these facts! These factors are evident and are happening from Harvey to Henri you name it. Let’s not forget too the catastrophic event at Waverly TN last week I mean 17.02” of rain in 5 hours. Warmer air holds more moisture for sure and energy!!
-
Well we know this is too weak considering we are down to 954 mb
-
Could be a weak tropical development just east of Delaware
-
The models show this
-
Sounds like we may have to skip depression and go to Tropical Storm Ida.

I will be falling in the point #2 category believing that the oceans are warming incrementally over time and the largest body of water on Earth the Pacific Ocean is ruling the lower 48 overall winter pattern enveloping it with relative warmth. Now with that said warmer water holds more moisture so even if you get a modest cold set up tremendous amounts of snowfall can fall especially in a blocking pattern. I do think that our number one reason why snowfall totals are falling is due to the warming of the oceans and warmth hanging around more than usual in effect shortening our opportunities to see meaningful snowfall in the eastern United States during shorten winter snowfall seasons over time. Here along the east coast we get a trifecta of warmth of water bodies: The Pacific Ocean that has a Pacific Jet which seems to rage more often, The Atlantic, The Gulf of Mexico, and finally to a lesser extent let's not forget the above normal Great Lakes seemingly year after year. Yes, I do think it is linked to Climate Change. I am starting to get annoyed with these phrases from weather professionals: "That's a once in a 100 year event" or "That's a once in 1,000 year event" Only to have the events happen a few more times in the past 10-15 years. The Global Warming Events are real! Hearts and prayers go out to Waverly, TN and its residents because I do believe that was a Global Warming Event! Remember warmer days and especially warmer nights allow the atmosphere to hold onto more water hence wild swings in weather events, get ready more wild events on the way! Great Post!

Steady rain falling here in Media Delaware County 0.82" so far. It looks like the rain band is shrinking. Strange set up looks like the southern portion of the band is lifting north at like 5 mph and then where the back edge of the band over the area moving north you have individual segments ripping off and moving SSE. I am guessing this is in response to Henri getting further north of us an the Upper Level low collapsing a bit.
