  1. Turned out to be partly cloudy here. More humid than I expected. Maybe the front can squeeze out a surprise storm for Frederick, though I’m not counting on it. Pretty impressive bust for this area. Flood watch hoisted and prob got less than 0.1” total the last 3 days lol.
  2. Notable bust especially considering how humid it’s been the last 2 days. Basically just a quick light rain event up here last night and practically nothing the day before.
  3. Getting some decent wind gusts here before what looks to be a 10 minute shower incoming. Most of the stuff is to my east atm.
  4. Mid levels are sprucing up a bit as can be seen on wv imagery. Maybe increased radar coverage will follow (there’s hints of that starting). Tbd
  5. Yep lol. This pattern just does not seem conducive to a widespread event. We need a better/strong vort pass that gets the whole board in the game.
  6. Yea, it was impressive especially with the wet snow accumulating on the trees. The next day looked like a winter wonderland. If memory serves, I think schools were closed for a week in part due to the power outages.
  7. If my area in Frederick manages to escape without at least one period of a gully washer shower from this system, then I'm going to have to place that as a top 10 weather bust. It's literally Florida outside rn.
  8. February 1987 surprise snow blitz. Enormous flakes. Greatest storm I've witnessed here? 2016. As close to perfect as it gets here...to the point that I'm not sure we'll see another one like it unless we get a well timed Miller A/PV combo. For hype? Superstorm '93. Great storm, but not the most memorable for snow...memorable for being able to walk on it, though (due to the period of sleet/ice in the afternoon). Greatest winter? Probably 2009/10, but 2013/14 was legit if you like wall to wall winter.
  9. It's admittedly overly sticky out, but nothing unusual...standard July weather. In comparison to spending 3-4 months tracking snowstorms with pretty much nothing to show for it, I'll take this weather any day. Big question is will it actually rain up this way.
  10. Beautiful summer day out there. Partly cloudy, light breeze, humid. Exponentially better than a few weeks ago. Hopefully, northern MD can score with the next round of potential storms.
  11. Looks like I’ll be watching most of these from the bleachers unless there’s some reforming imminent for rt15. Congrats to Moco.
  12. These are gonna be imby style gully washers for those who score. Seeing lightning in the distance. This is the type of air mass I’ve been waiting for (for strong+ cells).
  13. If it doesn’t storm here by Monday, I’m moving to the Mojave desert.
  14. It’s significantly humid out lol. If we don’t get storms in Frederick from this, then we deserve to be sent down directly to double A ball.
  15. I’m personally enjoying the feeling of typical dmv summer. Then again, part of that is because it makes for ideal basketball weather. For biking, I do generally prefer 60-80 and drier. My biggest gripe is that the cooler air masses tend to result in more clouds around here and a thorny nw breeze. Obs…seeing some storms to the west, but tbd on how well they hold together with several ridges to pass en route to the rt15 corridor.
  16. I think I timed my trip to Nevada pretty well. Left during the smoky haze and returned before the heat wave in the southwest arrived. Great to see some increasing humidity in the coming days (and an increase in storm chances) instead of that drought-y northwest flow that was prevalent for so long. I can't tell how well Frederick did while I was gone, but the grass looks a little greener than it did.
  17. I always considered the Nam (and especially the 3k) as a tool to use to get an idea of whether there will be any convection, but I don’t find it as useful for determining where it will actually occur.
  18. It was toasty…kinda like an oven/dry heat. A “cold front” (more of a wind direction change) came through overnight so we should be in the low 100s for the next several days. It’s definitely more tolerable so far today.
  19. I’ll call that dmv searing heat and raise you Las Vegas. Toasty out here today. Currently around 110/40 across the area. It’s prob the equivalent of 95/70 (maybe more). Gotta really hike/bike, etc. in the early morning or later in the day when it gets like this. Went on a mini hike at 10am and it was already starting to get spicy out.
  20. Weather is looking busy back east. Meanwhile, it’s 105 and sunny in Vegas…and will be approaching 110 the next couple days. I’ve been told this is their first 100 degree pattern since last year. Also, from a weather geek perspective, it was cool seeing the snowcaps of the Rockies en route here. They definitely had a fun winter. Anyhow. good to see that the pattern has turned stormier back home, though if I’m gonna take a biking break I guess I picked a good time.
  21. …think they’re gonna try to take the northern route out of here. I like that idea as opposed to being grounded for 2 hrs.
  22. Of course I would be on a connecting flight in Chicago with what looks like a derecho approaching lol.
  23. Been wanting a Bermuda High pattern since May lol. Unfortunately, the Canada wildfires might last all season.
  24. I think I can actually smell the smoke this time. Almost has a chlorine scent. Awesome.
  25. From the lack of snowstorms to the drought to the smoky haze…hopefully July brings in some better vibes.
