  1. This is the transformers and power outages portion of the program. Hopefully that stays low.
  2. I can see the glaze on cars. Might go out soon to investigate.
  3. would have been cool if this game was on pittsburgh.
  4. i expected it, but elevation hasn't been as important east of the blue ridge...that mid level warm air is obviously pretty high up and probably thick. needed a better 500 low track.
  5. i think it's a wrap soon. i did just check and don't hear pingers yet. pretty good band moving through, but it's football time now. curious how hagerstown does though in a setup like this.
  6. guess i'm next soon lol. 100% snow here. glad it stayed snow during the daylight. whatever it wants to do now is fine.
  7. just got home. still ripping here...though sounds like the sleet march is on. let's see how well sugarloaf to urbana to mt airy can delay things.
  8. Until the flip happens, this is a premium snowstorm in progress. Taking the Jeep out and roads covered. Pure powder. Really has an Atlantic system feel to it.
  9. think i'll be doing a walk soon. strike while the iron is...cold enough for snow.
  10. What’s impressive aside from the moderate powder falling (which has got to be at least 0.5” ph here right now) is the breeze. It’s really adding an element to this storm.
  11. nearby weather stations between downtown frederick and gambrill are still around 18-20 degrees.
  12. southern systems overrunning arctic air are the fun kind.
  13. strong start in frederick. sticking to everything. steady, maybe even mod and low visibility kicking in. can't see the catoctin's right now.
  14. 4-7" for frederick...that'll work. https://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.php?warnzone=MDZ004&warncounty=MDC021&firewxzone=MDZ004&local_place1=Frederick MD&product1=Winter+Storm+Warning&lat=39.4157&lon=-77.412#.YeRiIP7MK5c
  15. arctic express...a day late, but gonna be hard to scour out for the western folks. nasty stuff once the changeover occurs.
  16. yea, seems like there's a more easterly component on the gfs than the high res models. this is one of those storms where mets earn their paper. gonna be a lot of flight delays incoming as well.
  17. true, that was an imby post lol. my guess is 1pm for frederick, but precip is high-tailing it.
  18. basically following those 850 winds. verbatim would be about a 2pm arrival (maybe earlier).
  19. satellite: https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/conus_band.php?sat=G16&band=GEOCOLOR&length=24 water vapor: https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/conus_band.php?sat=G16&band=08&length=24 cod: https://weather.cod.edu/satrad/nexrad/index.php?parms=LWX-N0Q-0-24-100-usa-rad
  20. hoping it stays snow longer than expected for obvious reasons, but also because this has legitimate power outage potential for the northern tier. i don't feel like dealing with that.
