    Hopefully my street’s good when I get back. It’s annoying enough around a hill and curvy on a normal day but icy it’s a nightmare.

    Sun trying to poke out in Long Beach. Snow flakes mix in with light rain every now and again. Depressing/nasty. Happy for the folks north who got a good event.

    It’s all about how much the wind gusts can transfer to the ground. If there’s an inversion it’ll get windy but the strong gusts will stay aloft. Right now it looks like a windy 40-50mph system but hopefully not more damaging 60+ mph.

    I knew I wouldn't miss much being in Long Beach last night but still would've been nice to see a snowy scene. This place is an absolute winter weather pit.

    I was in Long beach. There were some mangled flakes mixed in otherwise rain. My house probably had a coating to half inch.

    We might not be totally done on the N shore. The CCB developing will be best north of here for sure but there could be some sloppy accumulation if we get a band or two to extend south. HRRR has 1-2" north of the LIE.

    Yep. Any heavier burst is bringing the cold air down. Too bad we had this easterly wind crap to ruin the initial conditions.

    Some nice gusts recently. JFK gusted to 36mph. Probably some close to 40 here in Long Beach. Of course other than some bursts of flakes mixed in it’s just been rain. Fitting that 5 miles north in Lynbrook had a half inch or more snow. Maybe there’ll be some left on the grass when I get back home tomorrow.

    CC mix line is about at the LIE. Looks like the heavy precip was able to punch through the warm layer.

    Winds definitely picking up.

    Way overdone down here. There are some places on LI that have maybe an inch, not anywhere near the 6” shown and the whole island is over to rain or sleet now. Central Park also has 0.2” and that’ll likely be it.

    Yeah, this heavy precip area is surging the mix line north. It’s likely associated with the stronger WAA.

    Ugh, wish I was at home. Stations around me are 32-33 so what’s falling is sticking even if slowly. 37 in Long Beach and rain.

    FWIW it’s raining quite hard here in Long Beach. Probably bodes well for you for a while.

    Looks like some better returns coming in. Too bad. With marginal temps like this you want the snow to come in like a wall. Could’ve been a couple inches probably if it started up like it did in NJ.

    I knew this was the probable result for days now so I'm not surprised. At my house on the north shore there might be some slush before rain but this just wasn't a favorable setup for us. Hopefully this reset around 1/15 can bring more opportunities.
