  1. And the disgusting humidity is back.
  2. The tendency has been for the best ridging to be over the plains, so wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see that continue. Maybe the ring of fire can bring us some widespread rain in that case.
  3. Yup, essentially from one end of Rt 135 to the other, drought to deluge.
  4. Amazing how within a 30 minute drive you can go from plenty of rain and moisture for the summer to charred flash drought here on the island.
  5. The worst I can remember locally is the 10” of rain the weekend before Irene in Long Beach Aug 2011. It almost all fell in one morning and turned every street into a river. The worst ever for me personally was 16” of rain in one day in Austin in Oct 2015 which was from the remnants of E PAC Hurricane Patricia. That by far was the heaviest rain I’ve ever seen.
  6. That’s probably where the storms lost support from the sea breeze front so they collapse.
  7. Hopefully, since the front is still well to our west but it probably depends on how much heating/instability can be generated under all the cloudiness.
  8. Radar estimating 1-1.5” in places that got both cells.
  9. Absolute drenching here with this last cell. No hail from what I can tell.
  10. My mom visited me over the weekend and was wondering how the lawns up here are all so green but at her house in Long Beach all brown. The grass down there is practically charred. Too bad yet again they’re missing good rain.
  11. Hail now too. I'd say maybe dime sized.
  12. Torrential rain/thunder here. Looks like some training in the same areas that got blasted last week.
  13. The Euro and most other models busted once again for how hot LI would get on the southerly flow today. 95 here. Not the 100 in NJ but plenty hot here.
  14. Downslope FTW there, wonder from where, Blue Hill area?
  15. For widespread 100 in NYC and east we really need a WNW downslope flow that can hold off the seabreeze. Our future is to be like Florida other than those rare days.
  16. Yesterday was 96 here, today is 93 but it’s atrocious. Long Beach is 87 but I’m sure is the same.
  17. Farmingdale and JFK 96 today. Scorcher right to the beaches. The lack of humidity made it tolerable. Tomorrow probably shaves off 3-4 degrees there but humidity will make it feel much worse.
  18. It’s hot but this is nothing like what Austin’s like this time of year (I lived there 2015 and 2016). You deal with it by being indoors all day and going out long after the sun goes down at 9-10pm. And it was only occasionally 100+ when I lived there-hottest I remember it getting was 107. The insane amount of rain they had in May 2015 probably cooled that summer down. This summer’s way worse in TX where it’s now something like 20-25 days in a row over 100 with no end in sight for almost the whole state. I remember Austin as much for the severe weather/rain in 2015 as the heat which is saying something. The heat finally breaks there in late Oct.
  19. 97-99 in the Five Towns/Valley Stream/Rosedale.
  20. Wow, Long Beach up to 95. SW Nassau can be the area hot spot when winds stay offshore or there’s a very weak seabreeze. 92 here.
  21. Sea breeze is starting up but so far it’s pinned to just the barrier islands. Radar shows it moving north but barely any momentum yet. Should easily make it to 95 for those not on the barrier islands.
  22. It’s essentially meaningless today and if anything just makes it worse. Long Beach is still around 90 and S Nassau and even into Suffolk are still well into the 90s. I can kinda tell from here that it’s almost IMBY because there are more cumulus building behind the seabreeze front and almost clear north of it. Shows up pretty well on radar too.
  23. Up to 93. Agreed, the humidity isn’t so horrendous so it feels better than yesterday and Wed.
  24. Seabreeze being held off today. 90s right down to Long Beach so far. 89 here, was briefly at 90. Maybe all the rain we had yesterday will keep us a bit cooler than places that had none.
