I think Madison on down goes into a WWA for the storm. I just dont see is meeting warning criteria. The favored CAD areas will stay or switch to a warning tomorrow morning or afternoon.
-
We actually have some clouds streaming in with a few flakes flying around.
-
Yeah we are sitting at 27 with clear skies. Its going to be a nice cold night finally.
-
I would just to be safe. Even though we are under a wsw here I still think we get minimal winter weather before it turns to rain. You on the other hand look locked and loaded for some ice for sure.
-
Yeah no thanks on the ice.
-
Lol I spoke too soon. Just as GSP issues WSW for basically everyone except for the southern most counties.
-
I think we see advisories issued for Haywood south and a watch issued from Buncombe north. I just don't see this being a great storm for the southern mountains. Not with another CAD storm. Personally im getting sick of these cad events. Id like to see a Miller A run straight through the heart of the state...

Finally the sun is out! Clear with a temp of 29.
-
The forecast is all over the place. We got thunderstorms! We got high winds, rapidly falling temps, black ice, wintery mix, snow, rain, more snow. Lets just throw the kitchen sink at it and see what sticks....
-
Lol I just read that! Im like WTF?! Temps dropping rapidly all of a sudden and rain changing to snow tonight... This weather be crazy...
-
Yep it will happen then.
-
Sounds like great times!
-
Well we are having multiple models that are starting to come into agreement about what could happen Thursday. The 18z GFS just hammers us with snow and some ice. We have some other models that are showing wintery precipitation of some sort that will affect us Thursday. Stay tuned as things may become active very quickly.

I think we may get one more last gasp outside the mountains at the beginning of March. It looks like blocking with set back up and the Pacific may become a bit more favorable in that time frame.
-
Yeah you are right. The Pacific can make us or break us. Blocking has helped us not torch all winter. If not for blocking in the NAO region we would have set a lot of records I believe with how crappy the Pacific has been. I think the EPO is just as important as the NAO with what you just alluded to.
-
Yeah too much of a good thing. This pattern can suck it. One of the biggest disappointments in recent years with blocking and such.

Im sure it will sometime in our lifetime. Just a series of unfortunate events...
-
Yep. This would have been the perfect pattern for us.
-
No kidding. Too much of a good thing.
-
Also we are losing blocking in the AO and NAO regions. The AO is a straight shot towards the positive in and the NAO is hovering around neutral and of course the PAC jet is no damn help staying crappy.
-
This has been one of the most disappointing pattern changes in some time. It's becoming clear that we will only see marginal cold temps from this PV. Enjoy the rain and 33 because that is all I see that we are going to get.

Welcome! Yes you are in the right thread.
