  1. One of the best, darkest roux gumbos I've ever made. Now just waiting for the snow.
  2. Louisiana born and raised, it was always my cold weather food, and then when I hit real cold weather no longer living in Louisiana, it's been perfect.
  3. Got a good pot of gumbo going and locked in for a big winter event
  4. So I know the Euro has been struggling/struggles with sleet/zr. I notice on the latest run, its showing 0.8" zr. Which is obviously not the case. I guess my question is, what is that likely going to be, sleet? and how much would 0.8" zr translate to sleet?
  5. Let me know if you ever do, my wife and I would gladly come!
  6. Honestly? I took a bit of a step back from tracking weather. Too many rug pulls, let myself just enjoy it when the storms hit haha. Plus honestly, the weather has not been that exciting. Plus, work and personal life stuff and a bit of a health scare. But hey. Look at me now. I'm back here vibing. Hope the family is doing well!
  7. I remember in like 2017 we had a sleet storm. Was like 3” snow and 2.5” sleet. That was wild. Literally saw a car drive backwards over a snow rut in the parking lot from the plow and get stuck like a seesaw. If this ends up being 6” snow and 4.5” sleet like NAM don’t undercount how crazy a weather event that will be.
  8. I'm really wondering about MCPS right now. Trying to make a decision of if I'm going to travel next week, but I'll only do it if they shut down school for the week. The potential for 10+" of snow and 3" of sleet make me think its a possibility.
  9. I don't think I've ever seen the GFS give me 20 inches and the NAM 4.5 inches for a storm that starts in two days. What even is going on haha.
  10. That's a wild amount of zr. Is it legitimate, or are we thinking more of that falls as sleet?
  11. GFS pretty much always caves to other models when it’s out on a limb on pure snow vs the snow/sleet line. But in this case it’s exceptionally funny how much more on a limb it is. i learned my lesson never to trust it in moments like this.
  12. The NAM's 2.5-3" of sleet on top of that snow will be hilarious if it verifies. I remember a 3" sleet storm in like 2017 or 2018 and it was a concrete mess.
  13. GFS looks beautiful, but am I wrong to note that every time we have a setup like this, the Euro and NAM end up modeling the rain/sleet line way better than the GFS? Feels like the GFS always wants to make everything "all snow" in these kinds of setups and it almost always fails.
  14. Guys I've achieved true weeniedom. I've cancelled a trip that I was going on this weekend to Montana just to stay here for the snow. Montana's got zero snow for the next like 10 days where I was going. I go there regularly so it's not a huge deal, but... literally here altering plans over major storms. I apologize in advance if I ruin the storm because of this. If so you can blame me. To be fair, I was also worried about the dog watcher not being able to get to my house, but that's just an excuse.
  15. Question… if the biggest hit scenarios are what we get in MoCo, how long would schools be closed for? I have never experienced a snowstorm like this despite living here 10 years.
  16. Just switched over to snow in Gaithersburg. Weird rime-ish snow but things are turning white at least.
  17. The downside is I'm not in Maryland today to experience the wonderful storm, and I miss it one of the few times I'm out of town. The upside is I'm in Missoula, Montana for the weekend and its puking snow here too Y'll enjoy, and I'm cheering it on.
  18. Wow y'all, the tornado touched down within 1 mile of me in Gaithersburg, I saw the meso and the rotation!
  19. It’s 47 degrees outside and I just got thunder. I have never heard thunder at such low temps. Wow!
  20. NGL it's really cool to jackpot for once! 11" total between the two storms. It looks wild here in Gaithersburg.
  21. 5” of new snow in Gaithersburg, really cheering for these streamers to get to me.
  22. A long time ago I asked on this forum, after being crushed with repeated 6-10" events busting with 24 hours notice, if things ever go the other way... if we ever go from like 0-2" to suddenly 6-10" with little notice. Today answers my question
  23. I'm positively cackling, every time the band moves the dark green and yellow then shifts backwards. It's like I have a standing wave of snow over me.
