  1. Pouring at Jones beach currently, really starting to make up for the dry stretch.
  2. Exactly, you never ever forget rates like that, almost like instant flooding. Only saw rates like that once during my entire childhood. Now it’s every couple years. Super PWATS
  3. It’s nighttime dark right now. Pretty amazing line. Almost like radar isn’t doing it justice. Wind and lighting was run of the mill, 30mph gust, some lighting but rain rates, incredible
  4. Ahhh ok. You never forget rains like that. Like they used to call a cloud burst. Backyard under inches of water. Torrents in the streats. It’s a just a different kind of rain rate. Almost like a 4-6” hours snow rate white out.
  5. Shocked no flash flood warning for nassua, let’s see if the upton guys still follow us. This is as Harvey as it gets!
  6. My backyard underwater, roaring rain with some small hail. Heaviest rain I have seen since ida on the uws. Streets are raging torrents.
  7. Serious flash flooding in lynbrook!!!
  8. Dark in lynbrook, home for the day because of back problems. Finally some rain on the south shore
  9. I’ll take the .74 at wantagh, while nothing for every other station in our region it’s the largest total during the warm season this year. Dead trees everywhere on the wantagh parkway from the successive years of warm season droughts
  10. Eastern Long Island is going to get smoked. 5”+ type amounts. The city may get rocked later if the stuff down by the Delmarva stays in-tacked
  11. .76” at the wantagh meso. Very solid for ok of driest sites in the state but missed out on the best action so far, this is far far far from over
  12. You have had a few events. South shore nassua has been a real epic Fail. It’s about time we got something. And this batch will probably explode and crush you
  13. About time, a Nassau county special on the way. This is the day no one escapes rain free. It’s too juiced
  14. So I just watered my veggie garden in lynbrook Sw Nassau county. It’s beyond thriving because I water no matter the forecast. My dads veggie garden at the house I grew up in and built, is awful. Because he will not water when there is heavy rains in the forecast. I think we all score tomorrow, maybe all flood. But better save then sorry when it comes to plants.
  15. Wow, while it’s obviously the standout in the metro I wouldn’t have thought another area would surpass wantagh. I would think the may be a similar situation going on with Lake Ontario. Meanwhile foggy currently at Jones beach with the super high dews.
  16. At my dads in south wantagh and not a drop. This place is literally the thunderstorm graveyard of the region. Might have the lowest precip total for the month in the entire state at the wantagh masonet sight
  17. I think it all comes down to wether we get the nino blockbuster. Feb 83, Jan 16. But others 97/98 and 72/73 were fails. One thing that’s almost certain, it will be above normal temp wise
  18. Nice stationary cell over lower Manhattan, I can see it perfectly from the uws. That’s going to produce some flash flooding
  19. Storm is completely meh rain wise, some good lighting though which I’m currently enjoying
  20. The south shore of Nassau really is the destroyer of storms. Convection fires everywhere but there. I’m starting to think that the urban heat island may have something to do with it. It’s clearly not the ocean as eastern Suffolk does very well.
  21. You need a larger sample size than that. If we we had obs from the 1800s you would see water temps in the low 30s. Ny harbor often froze allowing people to walk to nj. And a fair was held on the east river. All impossible now.
  22. I posted about the earlier, but it’s a launch pad issue. If your no cooling water temps in the winter, the second full inclination hits it’s off to the races.
  23. Yeah it’s been incredible. Normally we may get a few days like this in august, but not July. I think the fact that our winter water temps never get that cold anymore is a big factor. Because it’s not like we have had any real heat. At this rate we will make low 80s at some point in august.
  24. Yeah LI is the hot spot on a west wind. JFK will do crazy numbers with a west wind. We also have by far the lowest soil moisture given the localized drought. So until the sea breeze kicks in, it’s torch land
