  1. On average when will you see bare ground again? Mid april?
  2. Fun little event, and definitely a nice surprise and start to the season. It’s raw outside. 33 with 15-25mph winds. Cheers to winter 23-24.
  3. Wasn’t expecting anything from this, to my surprise I woke up and it’s ripping pretty good, sticking to elevated surfaces. Drinking coffee in my sunroom and absorbing the peace snow brings. Edit: ripping fatties right now
  4. I wanted to spread some positivity especially with so much animosity and negativity in this world. Today I’m thankful for family, the great thanksgiving dinner we will enjoy, and a job that provides for me as well as my family. be thankful for the small things, as some people have nothing. Happy thanksgiving everyone and safe travels!
  5. I knew things have been quiet, but how quiet? We have yet to make a storm thread this fall, and judging by the long range we are gonna be waiting awhile.
  6. And just like that trees are mostly bare. Happened suddenly. I’m ready for the first winter system.
  7. WAD fall. We just traveled for our first Christmas present for the kids, an Aussie doodle puppy. Everyone meet biscuit
  8. Give me a Christmas snowstorm and I’m happy. We are in strong Nino territory, so who knows.
  9. Rereading the threads from the legendary winter of 2013-14 and explaining that year to my son be like
  10. 79’d. Really wanted to hit that elusive 80 in November benchmark. None the less, extremely impressive.
  11. Up to 74 in the paign, record is definitely in play today. Really unbelievable. Curious to see if someone pops an 80. and Culver’s is goated. Edit: up to 77 now. Wow
  12. If that verifies records should be broken today. Record here is 78 in 1999.
  13. 67 here and 75 in the forecast tomorrow. Soaking up this beautiful day with bacon wrapped brats on the smoker. It’s very rare we get these days this time of year with NO wind.
  14. Tagged 72 yesterday, 65 today and another 70+ tomorrow, as cyclone alluded to, another warm spell looking likely next week. mentioned it another post but Aleks wad call almost a slam dunk.
  15. Yeah, your WAD call looks accurate. Another stellar day in the Paign, 60 and sunny, virtually zero breeze.
  16. first burn of the season. Absolutely raw day with a high of 37 with winds doing work on the trees at 35mph. Local news said this could be the coldest Halloween in 100 years, narrowly missing 1917. Gonna warm my bones with chili and ipa next to the fire. Happy Halloween everyone
  17. I’ve spent the weekend chopping wood for the wood burning stoves, still tons more to chop. Winter is quickly approaching, and those roaring fires in the dead of winter are glorious and worth the labor. Raw day, and a very very cold Halloween on tap.
  18. 29? wow. 36 here, had frost yesterday morning. I love sugar maples, but I love Japanese maples even more. Beautiful trees.
  19. At least we are shaking up the Nina pattern that we have been stuck in. We know for a fact a strong Nino at minimum, can it reach super? We shall see.
  20. Autumn is in full swing. Warm first few days, possible 90s in the sub then our first cool shot later this week. Forecast has a low of 40 Sunday night. Not much in the way of precipitation, as things are drying out once again.
  21. Little over an inch in the rain gauge, kinda nice to have a true autumn feeling day, love a grey overcast day once in awhile. Harvest is in full swing, I noticed even beans are in full harvest mode too. Ready for our first wound up October system.
  22. Top shelf day as the NFL season kicks off. Smoked pulled pork nachos and IPAs waiting for the bears game. Harvest is around the corner, and the days are getting noticeably shorter.
  23. yep noticed that as well. T minus 4ish weeks until we get that first true autumn cold front, although with a potential super Nino, who knows how this autumn plays out. regardless, I’m ready for deer chili, football and jeans/sweatshirt weather.
