    This is exactly where I’m at, by December 10th this winter had already far exceeded the entire winter of 24-25. It’s just so disheartening to see a blistering hot start be wasted with a major lull during peak winter season. Makes one appreciate wall to wall winters like 2013-2014 and 2014-2015.

    Not very often you see 60s in the sub in January, but here we are. 61 in Champaign, and a quality soak. Looking forward to a much needed pattern change.

    First half of January is toast. The blistering hot start to winter has come to a screeching halt. Signs of a more active and colder second half of January though, we shall see. Pretty disheartening to be wasting peak winter like this.

    Seeing this huge lull in the winter season after the hot start, really just puts into perspective how truly legendary the great winter of 2013-2014 truly was.

    Tagged 50 today, the snowpack got completely nuked, the snowstorms are already a distant memory. The next big headline will be just how warm Christmas Day gets. Mid to upper 60’s?

    Call was damn near $ I measured 5.3” and just to my east there was a 7” jackpot zone. Roads were a complete disaster. Unfortunately the blistering start to winter comes to a screeching halt now, but amazing none the less!

    Back to back clippers to hopefully lay down 6-8” before the quick but intense arctic blast. The torch will not be denied. Looks like we will be starting 2026 with a clean palette.

    Same. Parking lot puddles and bare ground rearing its head again. Second half of December torch. December 2013 played out kind of similar too. Fingers crossed January and February are epic.

    Looking like a dusting here, which is fine with me, after the insanely fast start to winter. Congrats to the i80 crew.

    Finished with 3.0” on the nose. Fun fact it’s December 2nd and Champaign has ALREADY surpassed our entire winter season snowfall totals from 2022-2023 and 2023-2024.

    I’ll take a 1-4” snowpack refresher tomorrow night. This glacier is gonna be around for a hot minute.

    Finished with 8.3” and a peak wind gust of 43mph, just an awesome awesome storm!

    The best part about this storm? It’s only November 29th. What a bang to start the winter season. Thundersnow was reported in Mahomet roughly 15 miles from Champaign. Such a good storm.

    Thanks dude! Haven’t been out to measure yet, but I’ll let you know! Judging from radar, a heavy band is knocking on my doorstep.
