  1. Drought in June, and now things are lush green. Amazing.
  2. Another 1.2” of rain yesterday. Everything is as green as it has been all summer, who would have thought?
  3. The most brutal winter of my life. Historic arctic outbreaks, 11/17 tornado outbreak, polar vortex blizzard, Thundersnow, multiple winter storms. Man 13-14 was legendary.
  4. Just a reminder in 60 days or less snowstorms can strike the northern plains. Look no further than the epic blizzard in the Dakotas 10/3-10/5/2013.
  5. Yeah, bos growing season is like 40 days long and first flakes are normally any day now kidding, but yeah does seem a shade early.
  6. Tuesday is August 1st and summer continues to fly by at a rapid pace. Cooler than normal start to the month is forecasted as well. Apple orchards are opening, and soon pumpkin spice everything
  7. That’s insane. I haven’t had a 83 dew since summer 2011. Jelly. That sounds amazing.
  8. 83 dew is impressive. 93/77/107 here. Is that the highest dew you’ve recorded there?
  9. Need to go back and look but this might be one of the hottest days by heat index standards here in quite sometime. KCMI just reported 92/80/111 my dad on his weather station 20 miles from me has 94/80/114 EDIT: I’m thinking maybe since summer 2011. I seem to re call I had a 81-82 dew point with a 96-98 temperature. Hmm need to look at that. My pool is 87 degrees lol
  10. Already 80/75 in the paign. Gonna be a brutal one today folks. Wonder if Alek still invests in gold bond?
  11. I hate to take the lazy man approach but shouldn’t 1957-1958 be a top analog? Triple dip La Niña, followed with a strong El Niño, obviously no analogs are the same, but it’s the only triple dip nina followed by strong Nino that we have record of, right?
  12. Yeah seems the rain chances are going to be few and far between for the northern portion of the sub. August is going to be an interesting month with a strengthening strong El Niño. How the hell are we 6ish weeks away from met fall? Anyway, I’m taking advantage of the warm summer and drier days ahead, me and the pops are hitting the lake this week for crappie fishing. Time to stock the deep freeze.
  13. I love fall. That first hoodie night with chili in the crockpot is unmatched.
  14. Corn should start tasseling soon, cicadas will be out, and the smell of sweating cornfields will soon permeate throughout. It’s July 9th and the summer keeps chugging along at a rapid pace.
  15. It appears cyclones call for a wet July has come to fruition, at least here locally, as training thunderstorms brought 3.50” of rain Saturday morning. Multiple chances of rain this coming week, the flash drought should soon be a distant memory.
  16. What a day. An untouched atmosphere in over a month produced one of the most severe days in years here. Just ordered pizzas from dominoes (the only thing open) and clean up begins.
  17. No power still. I have no doubt those 100mph winds mixed to the surface. Running on generator, corn in flat in the fields, curious to see if a tornado went through.
  18. They are fine. Thanks for asking. Large hole in the roof.
  19. They did. Significant tree damage in tolono and savoy. I live in savoy. Traffic being redirected. No power for 2 hours now. Buddy had a tree fall on his house with wife and kids inside.
  20. Less than .1” last night. Another hot and sunny day on tap. Extreme drought conditions should be monitored on the next update here in Champaign.
  21. I’m not sure if you’re joking or not, but freedom isn’t free, and my uncle gave the ultimate sacrifice for this country. Be blessed to live in the greatest nation, people died for this freedom.
