  1. We really need these few clippers to pan out between now and Tuesday to tap into the true potential of this airmass. Im not to optimistic. Despite decent radar returns right now, not a flake in the air, dry air is wining the battle. Monday is borderline as we warm into the mid to lower 30s before the bottom falls out.
  2. I know it’s crapuweather but Jesus, I’ve never ever seen a windchill of -52 forecasted for here.
  3. I really need the clipper on Monday to materialize if we want to maximize the potential of this possible historic cold wave. Yesterday’s heavy rainfall and temps of 39 degrees put a huge dent in our snowpack, in fact a lot of places have 1” or less on the ground.
  4. GFS windchill output has windchills approaching -70 in western Minnesota next week. -55 around Chicago. This definitely has the potential to exceed January 2014.
  5. Imagine my pain. We were forecasted most of the week for 4-8” and ended up with 0.8” of snow.
  6. Congrats to all the Ohio peeps who cashed in on this one! Looks like it was a great storm for you all.
  7. Had it not been for the 6” snowfall last weekend, this winter would be a solid F for me right now. Reeling in big dog has been next to impossible. Even last weekends storm under performed.
  8. Officially in Champaign 0.35” precip and 0.8” of snowfall. Brutal.
  9. Wow! Good for you. Enjoy the storm. Should be fun once the winds start cranking. Kinda funny, what was once suppose to be a good hit here locally, instead of gaining snowpack, have actually lost snowpack with bare spots now. Ugh
  10. 1” so far that turned to slush, and now light sleet falling. Event has been a total bust. But good luck to those up north under the heavy returns.
  11. I feel for all the meteorologists having to forecast this. It’s times like these the storm gets overhyped 5 days out, social media catches wind, and spreads it like wildfire. Then when the storm under performs, the mets don’t know what they’re talking about. I have have a damn migraine from this thing, literally. Almost just want this storm to be over.
  12. Thanks. Haven’t been able to keep up today, busy busy day. Thanks for the update. Things are def trending in a bad direction here
  13. Do you see the fgen band as far south as Champaign?
  14. The north trend is making me nervous. 12z GFS now has 2.2” for my area.
  15. Still a good hit. Run after run paints a bullseye into eastern Illinois.
  16. Cyclone. If this pans out. I’ll confess my love for you
  17. Fog really kept temps in check earlier. As of 11PM it was only 12 degrees, fog burned off and now it’s up to 21. Snapped another really cool picture of the picturesque winter wonderland. The camera on the iPhone XS Max is remarkabale.
  18. Breathtaking photo opportunity this morning as freezing fog has stuck to the snow plastered trees. It looks amazing outside. Got down to 2 degrees.
  19. I know it’s crapuweather but I’ve never seen this wording before a week out.
  20. This is going to be one of those storms that is so hyped because of social media like it already is, that when it doesn’t fully materialize like the rumors stated the forecasters get blamed for “looking at a computer and guessing”
  21. Cyclone has the hot hand, let’s keep this going. Anyway, does not appear much melting will occur throughout the week prior to this storm. 1/5/14 popping up on CIPS analog yet?
  22. Does the infamous Alek “guest” account make an appearance in this thread?
  23. Jeez if you would have told me the QC would have ended up with a bigger snowfall than me based on the trends, I would have said your crazy. We unfortunately got dry slotted for quite sometime yesterday which really cut into the totals. Jacksonville really cashed in on this storm with a whopping 14”. Not complaining though. Still ended up with 6” on the head and it is picture esque outside. Models are hinting at another winter storm next weekend.
