  1. Congrats to those cashing in. My call was $ here, and those in IA, NW Illinois hit the jackpot. Temps maxed at 43 here earlier.
  2. Emotions will be running high because of the amped up solutions, as stebo alluded too, lots of moving parts, that are just now coming into focus. Obviously everyone wants the historic blizzard, BUT a spread the wealth that drops 6-9” with 30-35mph winds is still awesome to me.
  3. Made a pretty good call, cold rainer with 1” of slop. Cyclone should do well.
  4. Give me the sig winter storm over a miss north.
  5. My call looking good too. Rainer with back end 1” slop. Will gladly pass on this for the looming Goliath late next week.
  6. I was going to ask if 1/5/14 “Polar Vortex Blizzard” would be a potential analog for next weeks setup. One of my favorite storms of the last decade. What a beast.
  7. A picturesque 1-2” snowfall last night. These vibes never get old.
  8. How yall enjoying that no hardypalmguy life?
  9. You’re looking good up there in the burbs. Super jelly
  10. ILX always does. Just like WCIA (local weather here in CI) I wish this snowfall wasn’t getting nuked by the warm temps prior to the next system, would certainly help with thermals.
  11. Cold rainer with back end 1” paste job. Final call
  12. yeah thermals are concerning. Cold rain or a back end paste job is not out of the question here.
  13. Everyone low key waiting for that juiced NAM run. Y’all can’t deny it. Honestly, just glad we are transitioning to a more active pattern.
  14. One thing is for certain, it won’t be zzzzs for the next two weeks. Tons to track! Can’t wait to see the first meltdown.
  15. Tomorrow rings in 2024. Models are pointing towards a stormier pattern for the sub. Discuss.
  16. What could have been. We had 1” here, wind whipped at 50mph. Still ground blizzard conditions. Could only imagine had we got the 3-6” that was modeled paired with that wind.
  17. Santa brought a late present, finally a good rip of snow, what a nice surprise. While this ruins the record of a snowless December, I don’t care!
  18. Maxed at 61 here. Me and pops are smoking a brisket. Clunker winter continues to last at least through the first week of January.
  19. I dream of a legendary winter similar to 2013-2014. The 11-17-13 tornado outbreak, the early December snowstorm, polar vortex blizzard, Thundersnow in February, 18” Snow depth with record cold was something I’ll talk to my grandkids about. @michsnowfreakreading his recap gives me goosebumps and butterflies. It was truly the best winter we could ever have here.
  20. Keeping expectations low during a borderline very strong El Niño keeps your sanity. So anything noteworthy that does pop up is a welcome surprise. This winter has been playing like out strikingly similar to 2015-16 so far.
  21. Stark contrast from a year ago at this time. Have 60 in the forecast for Christmas Eve, with upper 50s for Christmas Day. No matter what happens from here on out, this will significantly hamper my grade on this winter. Snow for the holidays is magical , even if no snow, cold sets the tone.
