Finished with 3.0” on the nose. Fun fact it’s December 2nd and Champaign has ALREADY surpassed our entire winter season snowfall totals from 2022-2023 and 2023-2024.
The best part about this storm? It’s only November 29th. What a bang to start the winter season. Thundersnow was reported in Mahomet roughly 15 miles from Champaign. Such a good storm.
Let’s all just take a moment and appreciate the extremely fast start to winter, something that has been severely lacking the last several years. To all those in the jackpot, congrats and keep uploading pics! Still a good storm here too
I for one would welcome a front loaded winter, the last decade has been dominated by truly awful Decembers. From everything I’m seeing and reading, this year could finally buck the trend.
The other shoe has to drop at some point, hopefully this extremely dry fall leads to a wet winter. Also, the fall foliage is extremely poor around here this year. I’m so disappointed.
Extreme drought conditions observed in central Illinois for the first time since 2012, very little relief in the extended too. It is bone dry out there.
field fire off in the distance from the low humidity and extremely dry conditions. The 17 pro max camera zoom really came in handy here. Extended forecast shows virtually zero precipitation.
With no drought relief on the horizon, IF we have a drier than normal winter, could be an early and very warm spring next year. I have ZERO rain in my forecast the next 10-12 days.
