  3. Can see the cumulus tower on that storm from Brooklyn
  4. If so, that will put a huge dent in the drought conditions if they persist. I think the pattern is headed that way. Drought conditions, then tropical weather system(s) or at least remnants of, affecting us as the season progresses.
  5. A bit less humid today with the WNW flow 82/65 at my station. DP has been hovering around 70 or above all week.
  6. Iridescence tends to form high up in the sky near clouds, like cirrus or lenticular, that are made up of especially tiny ice crystals or water droplets. The tiny ice and water droplet sizes cause sunlight to be diffracted—it is obstructed by the droplets, is bent, and spreads out into its spectral colors.....from Google
  7. Looking due west from Manhattan Beach Brooklyn. The cumulus clouds are building over NJ
  8. 73/67 at my station. Fog bank along with some towering cumulus visible just to the west in NJ.
  9. Frontal passage at my station. Winds wnw and dew down to 65. No rain here at all in Sheepshead Bay
  10. Nice looking line of storms in eastern PA and southern NJ (bowing segment) heading northeast. City and Long Island should get in some of the action if it holds together.
  11. Western PA and southeast NY look like storms are popping up.
  12. Temps in 60's all along the south shore of the city and long island.70's to around 80 the further away you get from the shore.
  13. My weather station has had a dominant easterly component to the wind since May 17.
  14. Fog literally hanging just on the immediate coast. Pic is a block from the beach in Coney Island. 2 blocks north it’s completely sunny. Pic came out sideways on the phone where I’m posting from. Sorry.
  15. Had .72 in the bucket here in Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn.
  16. What is the record low maximum temp in NYC for today’s date? Or for that matter, in the month of May?
  17. Pea size hail for the second time this afternoon in Inwood (extreme sw Nassau county)
  18. Weakening as it heads towards Staten Island.
  19. Just heard a loud crack of thunder here in Inwood Nassau County.
  20. Probably has to do with the elevation. Since the strongest winds are just above the surface, any increase in elevation makes it that much easier for the winds to reach those elevated surfaces.
