I’m not sure what your budget is but here are some more choices in VT. I’ve played these and they are nice Quechee has two courses, the Lakeland Course and the Higland Course

There is often snow on the ground or it’s too muddy. Mid-May is standard in NNE. My course did the same and you can’t tell. Eastman is a fun course. It’s a more modern design than Lake Morey. Lake Morey is more of a classic old New England design. The resort itself is sort of a throwback too. It has a beautiful location on the lake. In the winter there is a 5 mile long skating track on the lake.
Here you go. Used to play here every fall. https://www.eastmannh.org/golf-links

We ended up taking a different route simply because I decided to follow whatever the gps told me to do. Went all interstate through NH to 95 and the Maine Turnpike. Probably not the best route but traffic wasn’t as bad as I feared. Ran into some hellacious storms in NH. Rain hard enough to almost bring traffic to a halt. Impressive lightning around exit 13 on 89 in NH. We got a room in Bangor for the night and drive the rest of the way to PQI tomorrow. The last 2 times I’ve gone up there the clouds have obscured Katahdin from the lookout. Probably strike 3 tomorrow.
Where did you think you moved to? Seriously though, I don't know if you actually understood the climate in New England. There have always been hot days, this isn't Labrador.
