  1. Close to a shutout up until 7:00 am this morning where I live. MPV reported .33 but I live just east of the airport in that non-rain reporting area. It has rained today so our dry spell looks to be abating some.
  2. If I am going to be locked down at home, it might as well be mud season. Can’t do much outside then anyway up here.
  3. Mending Wall BY ROBERT FROST Something there is that doesn't love a wall, That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it, And spills the upper boulders in the sun; And makes gaps even two can pass abreast. The work of hunters is another thing: I have come after them and made repair Where they have left not one stone on a stone, But they would have the rabbit out of hiding, To please the yelping dogs. The gaps I mean, No one has seen them made or heard them made, But at spring mending-time we find them there. I let my neighbor know beyond the hill; And on a day we meet to walk the line And set the wall between us once again. We keep the wall between us as we go. To each the boulders that have fallen to each. And some are loaves and some so nearly balls We have to use a spell to make them balance: ‘Stay where you are until our backs are turned!’ We wear our fingers rough with handling them. Oh, just another kind of out-door game, One on a side. It comes to little more: There where it is we do not need the wall: He is all pine and I am apple orchard. My apple trees will never get across And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him. He only says, ‘Good fences make good neighbors.’ Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder If I could put a notion in his head: ‘Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it Where there are cows? But here there are no cows. Before I built a wall I'd ask to know What I was walling in or walling out, And to whom I was like to give offense. Something there is that doesn't love a wall, That wants it down.’ I could say ‘Elves’ to him, But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather He said it for himself. I see him there Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed. He moves in darkness as it seems to me, Not of woods only and the shade of trees. He will not go behind his father's saying, And he likes having thought of it so well He says again, ‘Good fences make good neighbors.’
  4. I have apparently forgotten how to play golf. Was awful off the tee and with my irons tonight but thought to myself "At least my putting is ok". Then I 4 putt from less than 20 feet. I may need to take a break.
  5. Yeah, but with a nearly 2" deficit over the last 2 months, you're parched like the Mojave.
  6. Been married for 20 years, I've forgotten
  7. My son does that regardless of the weather. He's 16 so frankly, it's better not being around him sometimes.
  8. I have all Ryobi battery tools including a 10" chainsaw that works pretty well. I'm lucky that the closest gas station to me has non-ethanol premium and that's what I put in the lawnmower.
  9. Nice. I've thought about going that way. Takes about an hour and a half to mow my lawn but was never sure about how long the battery lasts.
  10. Beautiful breeze coming through. Glad that other crap has let up.
  11. That had me scratching my head.
  12. Same at my house. We were walking the bike path in Montpelier when saw a flash of lightning and did an immediate turnaround. Unfortunately, we were a mile and half away from our car. Got drenched on the walk back. Evidence of decent rain right up to about a half mile from the house again.
  13. Record for June and 1 degree off the all time record.
  14. Deck staining is next on the list after we install my new kitchen cabinets this week.
  15. We drove through it yesterday. Downpour in Montpelier and the interstate was wet all the way until just before exit 6. Then the road was wet again part way down the access road and in South Barre all the way up to about a half mile before my house. These storms have been truly hit or miss.
  16. Was about to say that we have missed everything at my house but just looked out and my deck is slightly wet. Thunder all around for the last hour or so. Yesterday, the rain stopped less than a half mile away.
  17. About 25 years ago, a softball player got killed like that. Blue skies overhead when she was struck.
  18. Not commenting on this lady but I’ve seen people ignore thunder and stay in the course or get mad when the horn blows calling them off the course. It’s stupid.
  19. Took a ride this afternoon over to A&W in Middlebury. Root beer floats and car hop service. Really just an excuse for an old fashioned Sunday drive. Watched the temp drop to 77 at the top of Roxbury Mt. and down through Granville Gulf. Went over Middlebury Gap past the Snow Bowl and down to Rt.7. It was 91 in Middlebury. Back over the spine through the App Gap, 75 up there. Ran into some heavy downpours in Montpelier and it had rained all the way up to about a half mile from my house. Bone dry at home. At least my wife’s car had the pollen rinsed off.
  20. Is the pipe underground before it runs up the side of the house to the roof?
