Temp has surged above 75 under filtered sun and a great breeze. Really beautiful outside tho I think it's going to be quite a long time before I see 75 again

This is one of the models for this weekend’s storm. How awesome would this be if this kind of pattern exists over the winter so we get a true Nor’easter?! We can only hope.

You got that right (soupy). Stayed in the upper 60s here both yesterday and this afternoon but it felt like earlier in the summer with the high humidity. Have received 0.61" over the last two days which is the most in two months, so I'll take what I can get. Be nice to cash in on whatever this weekend brings, but you (and especially me) look to be on the fringes. Fingers crossed.

That was a pretty good storm out in the Garrett County area as well. I ended up with exactly a foot.

Bone dry out here. High of 74...came back from two nights at the MGM and grasses are tinder dry and brown, especially in western VA and WV. Even saw a decent size fire in the hinterlands of WV as I was coming up the grade on 48. Hope we get some decent rain before/during leaf drop.

Went to the game. Dropped some balls that we need to haul in but their D was outstanding. Didn’t hurt that the weather was damn near perfect.

The colors on the usual suspects (sugar maples, etc) are beginning to show. It’s quite noticeable and several weeks ahead of normal. It’s been right at 40 last few mornings. Do leaves respond more to reduced sunlight or temp?

Last night was similar to the one before. 41.9. Last year around this time, had 2 nights in the 30s. Maybe tomorrow or Saturday night?

Canaan is a relatively short drive for me so when my Dad was visiting this weekend, we drove by there and mentioned how us weather nerds follow their temps like gospel. Interesting that today, it's the coldest in the country. Even for a guy who couldn't care less about weather, he finds it fascinating that a locale near us can be that cold. Wish I could have a cabin smack in the middle of it.

Made it to 70.2 today and the DP is down to 51. Like everyone else, this is akin to winning the weather lotto in August. It'll be interesting to see if Canaan breaks 32 at some point this week.

I agree. We're about the same age and in middle/high school I ran cross country and don't remember a) temps above about 97 and b) this kind of humidity. Of course that wasn't a particularly long time. As soon as I went away to college, I discovered beer, pizza and blew up like a balloon and rarely saw a clock before noon.

I get that...what I don't understand is why aren't there big storms (of any kind, snow or rain) during the winter. With as much potential energy in the oceans as there is, you'd think the smallest perturbation would kick start a storm. Sure, we've seen some decent ones here and there, but nothing of note for nearly a decade. I am curious why given how much energy is available.
