  1. After a true winter's day two days ago (29/16), it didn't make it below freezing last night and poof, there went our little snow cover. Going to be beautiful the next few days at least.
  2. Yes, this was weird. I'm beginning my 4th winter in Garrett County and I've found that the Davis 3SE observer consistently gets 50% more snow than I do. I get 5...he gets 7-8, I get 4, he gets 6 and so forth. For me to get under 3 and he reports 14 is highly unusual. I drove there this morning and as I gained altitude on Rte 90, it was like someone turned on a switch by the time I got to Tucker County. Davis is generally the winner in my area but to jackpot like this (hell, a day and a half ago, Tucker County didn't even have a WWA) made me scratch my head - and pout.
  3. Went to Blackwater Falls this morning. Just so damn beautiful. When people talk about their happy place, this is mine.
  4. Low of 16 with winds gusting to 41mph with a fair amount of blowing snow. Event total 2.7". Beautiful shot of winter.
  5. A festive scene to wake up to.
  6. Hi of 56 yesterday. Currently 28 and light snow first of the season.
  7. Down to 44 with a steady W breeze about 20 mph. Under a WWA for 3-6" although this setup, at least imby, is closer to 2-3" kinda deal. I'll go from mid-September to mid-January tho in 24 hours tomorrow night with mid-teens and 35 mph winds. That'll be a shock to the system.
  8. 0.28" I'll take it. Excited about the first flakes incoming. Seriously considering heading downwind from Erie for the season's first chase but just not sure it'll be worth it. But, more importantly, just happy the season is finally here.
  9. BWI: 11.4" DCA: 9.6" IAD: 13.9" RIC: 6.6" Tiebreaker (LYH): 8.2" MBY: 115"
  10. 0.77" for this event so far. Temps bouncing around the low 40s. Will be interesting to see if any of the upslope mixes in with a few flakes over the next day or two.
  11. Temp has surged above 75 under filtered sun and a great breeze. Really beautiful outside tho I think it's going to be quite a long time before I see 75 again
  12. 27 - if only there was some upslope
  13. 30.0 on the nose. First morning <32 and it's my birthday. Heh, thanks Mother Nature for a nice lil present. And, heading to Calumet, MI to see if I can find a little place to call home in the future. Good start to the day
  14. Ji had a meltdown because I got caught by a red light yesterday and he doesn't even know me.
  15. This is one of the models for this weekend’s storm. How awesome would this be if this kind of pattern exists over the winter so we get a true Nor’easter?! We can only hope.
  16. You got that right (soupy). Stayed in the upper 60s here both yesterday and this afternoon but it felt like earlier in the summer with the high humidity. Have received 0.61" over the last two days which is the most in two months, so I'll take what I can get. Be nice to cash in on whatever this weekend brings, but you (and especially me) look to be on the fringes. Fingers crossed.
  17. Did pick up 0.11” for a September total so far of 0.28”. Tinder dry.
  18. Beautiful weather in Myrtle Beach. About 77/60.
  19. That was a pretty good storm out in the Garrett County area as well. I ended up with exactly a foot.
  20. Pretty good shot of the inversion that’s so common this time of the year. About 40 this morning but area hills are aoa 50.
  21. Bone dry out here. High of 74...came back from two nights at the MGM and grasses are tinder dry and brown, especially in western VA and WV. Even saw a decent size fire in the hinterlands of WV as I was coming up the grade on 48. Hope we get some decent rain before/during leaf drop.
  22. 35.2 and first morning here with lots of frost on cars/roofs.
  23. Went to the game. Dropped some balls that we need to haul in but their D was outstanding. Didn’t hurt that the weather was damn near perfect.
  24. The colors on the usual suspects (sugar maples, etc) are beginning to show. It’s quite noticeable and several weeks ahead of normal. It’s been right at 40 last few mornings. Do leaves respond more to reduced sunlight or temp?
