Low of 22.8 with a solid coating of ZR after 6" of snow yesterday.

LOL it's like you are a native to GC! I'm proud of Mountain Lake Park's one stop light. AND we are getting a new Shop 'n Save, so take THAT D.C. I think the lowlands will have a bit of a boom with this one. Nothing that you'll need a snow blower for, but the fact you're getting flurries now before the show gets going is a very good sign.

Very light snow started a few minutes ago. It's interesting how low key people are about snow here vs MoCo where I used to live. There wasn't but a handful of folks at the WalMart in Oakland this morning and we are under a WSW. I know we get a lot more snow but still kinda funny.

Low of 4.3 right around midnight, up to 14 now. Waiting for the first flakes...with the temp rising, wonder if there'll be mixing issues lol.

This is a potent lil system with good lift and a respectable amount of moisture to wring out overhead. You'll do very well, as usual. Hit 15.1 for a hi here today and now down to 11.7. Winds are dying down, so temps will probably tank early and then slowly rise as the clipper gets closer.

Major Lake Effect Snowstorm: Nov 29-Dec 4th
katabatic replied to BuffaloWeather's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
There looks to be the potential for some big time LES totals, especially off of Ontario next week. I'm heading to Redfield to try and capture at least some of it and would be interested to hear your take on the setup as it gets closer. Is the Western NY crowd active at all anymore? -
Next week looks bitter. For a few days, 2 degrees may feel good lol. My P&C in MLP says -9 Monday night. But, for a while, I've been eyeing getting a place up on the Tug Hill for next week. Just pulled the trigger since there is the potential for an epic LES event...at least what the GFS is selling. Well, F it, I bought it and found a hotel outside of Redfield, NY at about 1,300' with WiFi (can do a little work) to scratch that itch. Free cancellation until 1/18 so if the forecast falls apart, there's that in the back pocket. Absolutely in seventh heaven with this winter so far.

Low of 4.5 this morning after 4.3" last night. WSW up for tomorrow (map above) for 6-8"+. A recent Buffalo AFD mentioned after the next blast of pure arctic air, Erie will likely freeze, cutting off a good part of our recent gravy train (about 25% coverage now).

It's intense. I'm now over 4 inches and temp dropped to 11.5. Based on upstream radar and squalls in the area, could easily hit 6 inches. Definitely an overperformer.
-
Nice little snowstorm. Right at 2" since this afternoon and continues to come down steadily. Still 14.7 degrees.
-
Light snow began about an hour ago. 14.7 degrees currently.
-
Chilly morning low of 7 with a steady 10-12 mph breeze. Looking forward to some more fluff this week

I prefer Canaan because it's a longer ride and they have railings on the carpets as they take you up the hill. At Wisp my friend lost his balance and took a nasty fall since there wasn't anything to hold on to. Since you are all bundled up dragging the tube, the railings help. And I just love the drive thru Davis and the valley as well. 10/10 kinda day today.

It's on the same side of the highway as the ski area. Super easy to get to but the lodge is somewhere else as this is kinda by itself. @Terpeast you can get them ahead of time. I was surprised at how few people were there today so you could have easily walked up but its too far to take a chance imo. It's a 2 hour window that costs a very reasonable $36.

Beautiful day at Canaan State Park. Temp in the mid 20s with zero wind.
-
Upslope since about 8:30 this morning has been no joke. Another 3.4" and a storm total so far of 4.9" and it's still coming down. Cracked the 60" mark for the season.
-
Received 1.5" with pixie dust blowing around. Upslope looks good for a few more thru Sunday morning. 17 degrees currently - deep winter continues. Eyeing the Tug Hill for a chase after the surge of cold air next weekend should bring a period of intense LES. Anyone else interested?

Mother Nature has a way of creating her own art and design. The front of my porch faces east and the prevailing winds are from the west, so I get these snow overhangs from time to time but this one takes the cake.
-
5.9 here. Winds remained slightly elevated until right before sunrise. Not nearly as dramatic as Canaan NWR's temperature tank, but followed a similar path. Was hoping to see 0 but looks like that'll wait a little while.

Sent ya a message. Be glad to pick them up!

The Garrett County Republican. I'll be glad to pick up a few copies for you if you want.

@EskimoJoe you guys made front page news [emoji2]

Since Sunday, hit the 2 foot mark, albeit barely (24.2"). The snow ended around noon and sun is now out - haven't seen the 'ol sol in a long time. Best upslope event here since the January '22 storm. January last year had an awesome stretch, but it came to a screeching halt and within a few days was damn near 60 degrees. Doesn't look like that'll happen this year, at least not in the next week or two. Heading to Canaan to go tubing Sunday which should be a lot of fun.

4.6" of fluff overnight and this morning (continues to snow now), temp remained relatively steady with a low of 12.2. Makes the 4 day total 22.6" so far.

It's got to be close here (WSW criteria). The WWA says 6" for the 219 corridor and that would be me. I received 1.4" in about 35 minutes around 4:30 PM. I was on a work call, looked outside and told them I had to drop off. Threw on my boots and walked around the 'hood in the big, fluffy flakes. Snowing now, but not particularly hard. 13.5 degrees.
