  1. I get that...what I don't understand is why aren't there big storms (of any kind, snow or rain) during the winter. With as much potential energy in the oceans as there is, you'd think the smallest perturbation would kick start a storm. Sure, we've seen some decent ones here and there, but nothing of note for nearly a decade. I am curious why given how much energy is available.
  2. This is a legit question and not a troll. Also, might belong in banter, so if it needs a new home, feel free. But the question I have is the (perceived) lack of large east coast storms. Why? The theme of climate change seems to be an overall increase in storm frequency, an overall increase in precipitation. We have all seen the reports of incredible precipitation events around the globe. The oceans are on fire, so it certainly isn't a lack of potential energy. I'm an economist, not a met but it would seem like there would be more large storms (perhaps blinding rain vs snow) vs just a sheared out mess that seems to be the predominant storm type of late.
  3. First rain in a couple of weeks. Nice shower with a few rumbles. 0.59"
  4. Beautiful morning. 47.1 under clear skies. What a day.
  5. Pretty amazing it is only 65 at peak heating. I saw some folks out and about in sweaters. Nice break.
  6. Do you have the precip maps for the same time period?
  7. This is exactly when I am going as well. This has been a trying year and I've been waiting a long time for this week so let's hope it isn't one thunderstorm after another.
  8. Canaan got down to 44.8, the Glades was a touch colder at 44.7. A local GaCo station in Bittinger got down to 49.1. Just spectacular, especially after the humidity of the past ~30 days (even out here, DPs were not uncommon to be 72-74 which is rare day after day).
  9. Got down to 55 this morning. I saw a few GaCo obs in the 40s; was hoping to see that, but regardless, spectacular day today.
  10. Like the rest of the forum, loving the lower DPs. 57 now imby - felt like a ballerina walking into Wal Mart. If I'm super lucky, I'll just kiss the 40s tonight. We shall see.
  11. This is only my third summer living here but there have been multiple days it's felt like Florida. In the little hut I live in, I don't have central air but the window units are on constant overdrive. My neighbor, Anastasia Beaverhausen, only has fans, so this has been a tough summer.
  12. I can see why the FFW is east of here. Just a gentle light rain (radar, at least here, has more bark than bite) with a few rumbles of thunder. DPs never got above 65 this afternoon. About 0.20" so far. Enjoy the action east of the BR!
  13. Happy 4th from Wisp [emoji2]
  14. 0.65" on the day with more pedestrian stuff to come. Looking forward to the glorious weather this weekend.
  15. A smidge cooler at 84 but DP still in excess of 70. Hoping to get a decent shower next few days. #Marked safe from frostbite today.
  16. We are all waiting for the storms out here in GaCo to cool us off.
  17. Just hit 90 (yesterday's hi was 88.3) and with a DP of 72, it's a sauna even out here. First 90 of the year (2024 we had 3 days, never hit 90 in 2023).
  18. Cooled off fairly well last night; 65.7 goes in the books. While you are cooking today to a solid medium/medium-well, realize that Christmas Eve future is now closer than Christmas Eve past.
  19. Warmest so far this year but my guess is I won't get too much sympathy from this crowd. Temp is 88 with a HI of 92.6.
  20. Very humid...DP of 73 is the highest I've seen it since moving here nearly 3 years ago. Got my poor man's window unit cranked and so far, doing a reasonable job. Is it fall yet lol.
  21. More light rain overnight (0.18") and 5.17" so far for the month. Everything is sloppy and overgrown but fortunately we haven't experienced anything like those poor folks in Morgantown/Fairmont.
  22. 3.01" for the weekend and 4.87" on the month. In the past 45 days, over 15" has fallen.
  23. Ended up with 2.13” in a very short amount of time. 4” on the nose for the month in MLP. Now in Richmond for Fathers Day and hope we get some goods later on with a juicy airmass.
  24. This is imby. I’m not home but wish I was. Look at that rainfall rate. Wow.
