  1. Like the fact we had 0.15" with our FFW? Beautiful day, sunshine after lunch and temps in the low 70s. Near perfect day for mid summer.
  2. After days of relentless rain, 0.17" total.
  3. The fireworks display at Wisp was awesome. Had a few sprinkles ~8PM which dropped the temp into the mid 60s so it was quite refreshing. What was super strange was after we got back home and turned on the Cubs game, Wrigley Field looked like the London Fog of 1952 - even delaying the game due to fireworks smoke. I used to live within walking distance of Wrigley and don't remember fireworks let alone those kind of after effects (I realize the wind was calm, etc.). Hit 88 yesterday and so, never reached 90 this past week.
  4. Made it to 89 again. Guess the mid-70s dews kept the temp in check.
  5. 89.2 with dews all day 72-74. Should reach 90 for the first time this year tomorrow. Deep Creek Lake is packed - the Oakland Wal Mart's shelves look like a grocery store in DC when a big snowstorm is forecast (not that anyone remembers when that occurred). My poor little window units are all panting and out of breath. At least it's beautiful when the sun sets (the Broadford Lake fireworks show tomorrow and the biggie at Wisp on the 4th should be spectacular so long as we don't get thunderstorms).
  6. It was groooosssss today. 86-87/73-74 all afternoon. Very high DPs for this area. Also, looking solid Thursday for our first 90+ here.
  7. Yes! I have a cousin that lives outside of Anaconda, MT and he said he got a pretty good dump. Kinda reminds me of the Unabomber so we don't talk often but still the (almost) July snowstorm is pretty damn neat.
  8. In case anyone was wondering.
  9. DCA: 98, 101, 100, 98 BWI: 99, 102, 103, 100 IAD: 97, 102, 101, 100 SBY: 97, 98, 101, 99 RIC: 99, 102, 104, 100 Total rain: 0.00"
  10. I frequently drive to Richmond and noticed the same thing. We've done fairly well in this overall pattern - certainly a change from the past 2 summers (at least so far) which were bone dry. Beautiful, crisp morning today with a low of 47 (34 at CNWR). Hope to get some more rain this weekend before we rev up next week.
  11. 70/59 with a nice breeze and the sun returned. Measured 0.54" yesterday with 3.55" for the month so far.
  12. A true, old-fashioned soaker this morning. The radar, to my delight, looks like a traffic signal. So far, 1.29" of rain has fallen with ongoing storm intensity of around an inch per hour. With the wind advisory kicking in soon, I hope any tree damage is minimal.
  13. Sun is out after 0.16" of rain. I hit 70F dews only a few times per year and this afternoon it reached nearly 72F which, iirc, is the second highest since moving here in '22.
  14. The amount of rain is rather pitiful with this line moving through (0.15") but did have a 66 MPH gust that did some minor tree damage.
  15. Low of 40 this morning. Absolutely spectacular day yesterday. Pic is of Broadford Lake in Garrett County where we watched a nesting pair of bald eagles for at least an hour.
  16. 74.5/41.5 with wall to wall sunshine (like everyone else). Trees are probably 80-90% leafed out now and with 7.14" of rain this month, everything is a brilliant green.
  17. 5.85" since Thursday. Some nasty flooding just south in the Parsons - Davis WV corridor. @jonjon hope you guys are doing OK...never want to see that. On the upside, this was overall sorely needed especially since we're back to the dust bowl beginning tomorrow but ohhhhh what a beautiful upcoming weekend it's going to be
  18. Obviously I certainly hope so. Ever since moving here, I've been surprised at the overall lack of precip but I also know we've been in a long term drought for ages. After this wet stretch, we go right back into the dust bowl unfortunately. In looking at the stats for winter 15-16 (you can't use the Oakland weather stats...the reporting site is right next to the hospital building and is wildly inaccurate, so I use Bayard as a proxy - whoever is their observer does a great job) you had the bomb in January and some other precip during the second half of winter but overall, it's what you would expect during a significant El Nino. @dailylurker and I communicate regularly and have been looking for a reasonably priced snow camp up on the Tug Hill east of Lake Ontario to get our fix...maybe we'll be lucky enough not to need it this upcoming winter!
  19. Narrow band set up shop over head this morning bringing the total to 4.89" thus far. @MillvilleWx I've thought all along what an incredible snowstorm this would have been. Imagine our thunderous squall we experienced yet for several hours at a time. Yes, please and thank you I'll take another lol.
  20. This batch moving through means business. 2.23” since 6:30 pm. Event tally so far is 4.33” which is easily the best rain I’ve had since moving here nearly 4 years ago.
  21. Pretty cool shot of the western extent of the cool and cloudy wedge cresting Backbone Mountain. Pic taken on Route 135 in Mountain Lake Park (Garrett County).
  22. The horizon to horizon stream of RX 350s with NoVa tags arrived right on schedule. The lines at the Oakland Wal Mart resemble the 1994 South African election. The sh*tty weather didn't stop the coming of summer age pilgrimage to Deep Creek...at least it is now above 50 with 2.10" of badly needed precip with #DroughtBuster'26. 200 foot ceilings be damned! Looking past early next week, unfortunately things turn absolutely bone dry again. From 117 to 384, GFS has my area with ~a half inch of precip.
  23. 0.09" for the beginning of our drought buster. 1.25" so far for the month. Turned into a nice afternoon/evening albeit a bit humid (DPs ~65).
  24. 89.1 which is the 4th highest temp I've recorded since moving here in the fall of '22. Not a long time obviously but still rather impressive warmth.
  25. Stiff breeze, upslope rain showers and 39 degrees. Gotta be some flakes up on the ridges as its below freezing at Spruce Knob.
