  1. Just gorgeous out 75 degrees at 1 PM with sun. I would like to request this troughiness in Jan/Feb please. Thanks
  2. We moved to Calvert in fall of 1978 and the house did not have AC! Oh man were we hot. My parents finally got AC in 1990
  3. A quick look at monthly averages doesn't show anything too extraordinary for August in the 70s and 80s -- 1980 was a nasty summer though! August is a pretty nice month here with the average high at DCA going from 88 to 84.
  4. Yeah here too man! DCA has only recorded 3 days of 95 or higher so far. It's August 2 and my area woke up to a chilly 55 degrees and we are looking at highs in upper 70s to near 80 all week.
  5. I was just reading the disco for that area -- oh man I feel bad for the folks vacationing at the Outer Banks this week: Tuesday through Thursday...A very wet three days are on tap for the middle of the week. The unseasonably strong trough over the southern Appalachians remains in place (potentially cutting a low off at its base), ensuring that a deep tropical moisture belt remains over the area. PWAT values of 2-2.5 inches prevail through the period. At the surface, the boundary will generally remain along the coast, with several weak waves riding along it about every 18 to 24 hours, leading to periods of increased rainfall coverage and intensity. The heaviest rainfall is currently expected to fall along and east of the boundary, with 3 day QPF in the neighborhood of 6-8 inches along and south of US Hwy 17...
  6. I caught a brief but heavy shower! No not here -- I was out from under the dome and down in Gaithersburg. That shower looks pretty decent not as it rolls through the Laurel to Odenton area. Got on and off light rain here which is just enough to thwart my gardening plans. I'll just do it tomorrow which looks cool as well. Instead I am working on a shrimp and sausage jambalaya and will get a couple beers chilling
  7. I won't get any rain but it's a nice day for being outside. Not a great week for people that went to the beaches this week! Looking like an all-day rain today and more later in the week. Hopefully they'll be luckier than that. We go next week and the long range discussion mentioned cut-off low. Don't do it!
  8. Sound about right. Oh well I could use the cloudy dry day for some needed garden maintenance.
  9. WOW and I thought my spot was bad! Some areas in western VA with only a half inch in the last 30 days while places near Richmond are 10-15 inches
  10. LOL yeah you got that right! Five months straight of 40s and rain. A few more years of this horrendous climate and I am out
  11. I just don't get how this happens so consistently. Other parts of my county have had numerous storms over the last week while I have to heavily water my garden this evening. It's such a dull boring place for weather. Lucky to see one or two thunderstorms in a whole summer.
  12. Aaaaaaaand another whiff by just a couple miles. They've happened in every single direction over the last week
  13. I know I won't see a thunderstorm here but man are we looking at some gorgeous temps starting tomorrow. Looking forward to that!
  14. Thunderstorm dropped good rain so close to my east with only 0.07 here. Never seen so many close misses in one season. Unreal.
  15. Except for missing thunderstorms, this has not been a bad summer at all. So far only three 95 degree days at DCA.
  16. We'll miss this sun when we are in the five months of upper 40s and rain starting in November
  17. 72 hour rainfall map shows the central MD desert perfectly
  18. Not a drop. Thunderstorms passed just north and south, then merged into the nice line moving south of DC now. This place is a true micro desert.
  19. Heavy shower rolling across the same exact part of southern MontCo as yesterday while most everywhere else high and dry. It's really amazing how it does that
  20. That was something how that heavy shower near the Potomac sat over one area with 1-2" totals. It sucked the heat out of the air even up here and made for a nice evening sitting out. Speaking of a storm sitting on an area, check out the 8.5" totals SW of Charlottesville!
  21. The forecast for Montana is ridiculous! Highs in the 100s thru Thursday with as high as 108, then upper 90s after that.
  22. Can't believe it -- 1.0 here for the best one-day rain amount since June 14 and the first with more than a half inch since July 1. The lawn needed that badly. 67 degrees with a breeze -- might take an early morning walk.
  23. HA! Reminds me of "Independence Day" with the huge alien space ships
  24. Afraid so -- NPZ said a huge storm missed just to the south (NP now lives north of Stephens City). Man, harsh. Looks like I have another little cell inbound
  25. Got a rare lucky hit and picked up 0.6 with some good CTG strikes. Looking at that huge line in central PA -- it's amazing how much t-storm activity that area has had the last few days! I hope areas that have been missed score this evening.
