  1. Quite a cluster of storms heading for my area. That's what I get for watering the gardens this morning
  2. Gonna miss this round and will have to do some watering
  3. The radar over Delaware looks like a land hurricane
  4. Got some house-shaking thunder as it came through Germantown and a number of close strikes. Short but LOUD storm at 5:15 am LOL
  5. Partly sunny now and just gorgeous. I was quietly sitting in a deck chair and a hawk landed on a branch like 10 feet from me. After a half minute it silently zoomed off.
  6. 66 degrees in mid-afternoon on June 11
  7. I tied the map again and zoomed way in - still 0.96. We got waves of heavy rain in the afternoon/evening and I checked the gauge once we had a break and it was 1.1. Then it was raining hard again later at night and I had 1.75 total. Strange. The map was dead on with the 0.23 a couple nights ago.
  8. This is the first time I've seen such a discrepancy between the rainfall map, which shows 0.96 for me, compared to my rain gauge with 1.75 (yes it was empty before yesterday afternoon )
  9. This stuff pops up fast! We went from nothing around on radar to heavy rain in a matter of minutes
  10. Got 0.23 last night. I am also hoping for a storm tonight. I love the nighttime storms with lots of lightning so hoping for that
  11. Germantown in mid-summer form with 0.07 yesterday while Rockville rocked. That's OK since May was so wet Looking forward to glorious weather for days. No 90s in sight!
  12. All this talk of DFH 120 has me wanting to try it! I love the 90 minute. Just a sprinkle here as everything went just south but I'm OK with that as I got soooo much rain in May. Parents in northern Calvert report small hail and brief but real heavy rain of 0.75 in minutes.
  13. Whew it's a hot one, up to 87 Ocean City hit 91 yesterday, never went below 75 last night, and was already 84 by 9 am. Then the wind shifted to the NE and BAM it's mostly cloudy and 68!
  14. I was just looking at Boston! Upper 50s and cloudy. Payback for their winter storm blessings
  15. Ooof! Did you say the AC is getting fixed Thursday? Of course the heat wave ends right then. 92 in Germantown now
  16. I can attest to those high amounts in upper Mont Co. I stepped into my garden bed the other day and my foot sank about four inches. Already 82 at 10 am -- gonna be a hot one!
  17. 1.1 for the event. Now looking forward to some beautiful weather this weekend!
  18. Yikes hope it works out. I'll never forget the incredible base-ball sized hail that smashed the Kettering neighborhood in the Largo area. I still remember the date July 10, 1978. Every house needed new roofs (houses were just 9 years old at that point) and all windows facing west were shattered and people covered them with plastic. It was disastrous. Something about Kettering -- it also got a tornado in 1971 that took off roofs and destroyed carports. I remember it clearly even though I was only 4. I wonder if that's what started my interest in weather.
  19. I remember that Amazon facility that got hit a while back -- can't remember where that was. That was scary! Amazon workers are the awesome sauce
  20. Just like that time a couple weeks ago upstate NY is basking in upper 70s/low 80s while were in this
  21. Pardon the non-Mid Atlantic topic but what's with that large wedge tornado in Texas yesterday that reporters keep saying has "wind gusts of 70 mph?" I just saw this quote in another article. 70 mph? after photos and videos of a gigantic tornado near Morton circulated online. The storm has wind gusts up to 70 mph, NWS officials in Lubbock said.
  22. That is cool! Looks like a shock wave
  23. Beautiful today but looking dreary the next couple days. I bet we don't get out of the upper 50s tomorrow. The coming weekend looks nice -- summery but not too hot.
  24. Not severe in Germantown but some good lightning and rolling thunder. I love those kind of storms at night
