  1. Those rip currrents are serious stuff. Just read about a 50-year old guy and his 28-year old son both lost to a rip at the NC coast. Terrible.
  2. Got a little rain overnight, but as is almost always the case, more fell in seemingly every direction. This is last 12 hours
  3. My area continues to avoid any bursts of rain and I expect to be shut out tonight and tomorrow. I'll probably have to get out the garden hose tomorrrow
  4. Some good stuff over and SW of Strasburg moving your way -- hopefully holds together
  5. If that verified, NPZ would replace the desert pic with the lush green one like a few years ago. Some nice-looking showers developing to the south moving north. We do well with those (it's the west-to-east movers that miss me more often than not)
  6. Good to hear about Nags Head! My sister and family are there and she was very worried about a dreary week. Latest forecast looks a lot better than it did a couple days ago. We got kicked off north OC on Friday for a thunderstorm sliding east a few miles to the north. Any idea what the rule is -- just audible thunder? People were mad because everyone seems to have radar on their phones and were complaining that it's not coming this way On a dumb note, after an early morning TS that missed very close but with visible CTG bolts right over the water just 1-2 miles out, there was a guy with two little kids running around on the sand
  7. Here is a cool pic as it moved away
  8. As we were packing up to come home from OC early yesterday morning, we had a surprise thunderstorm develop literally a few thousand feet to the east and move away, which I was glad for since we were loading the car. I got to see some great lightning strikes over the water and could see the heavy curtain of rain maybe 2000 feet away. I tried taking a pic but it didn't work. It was a good view of what it looks like when I get Germantowned with a storm missing me by a mile or two. Here is what it looked like on radar as it blew up
  9. According to the iweathernet map my location got another 1.08" after getting about 1" earlier this week. Amazing! Maybe more tomorrow?
  10. Surprise cell formed over Dewey Beach and slid east and faded, now another forming near Bethany which is close. It's funny for me to be rooting for storms to miss me for once!
  11. Whew hx already 103 here in Ocean City, but that might be as bad as it gets. Each day has been stinking hot by 10-11 am, then the S breeze kicks in and it get nice. Same expected today with S wind of around 10 mph. Hoping to score some thunderstorms at home on Saturday, but I know Germantown...
  12. Might be a little wet but those temps Sunday into early next week are looking nice
  13. Whew boy it's a hot one in OCMD today -- 88/78 with hx 102 and a light west wind. I am hoping that swings around to S at about 10 mph and the temp will back off a little. Still nothing like when we used to go to Atlantic Beach, NC where it could be 92/78 at 9 pm
  14. My sister was up at a place called Jellystone Park in Williamsport, MD when a severe storm hit this afternoon. A large oak tree smashed her nice RV and it is totaled. Thankfully no one was in it at the time. She is heartbroken.
  15. A relative told us of her friend that had those mite bites and scratched her shoulder so much she got an infection and went to a walk-in clinic. They found a line moving down her arm and told her go to the ER right away. She ended up on I.V. antibiotics.
  16. Checked in on Germandesert and saw 0.00 as expected. I'm glad my neighbor is watering our deck plants and garden bed or we would have returned to everything dead with 90s and zero rain all week. It will not rain there again for weeks.
  17. Man what did the Delaware beaches do to deserve this! Clouded up here in OC and most left the beach but no rain, but man DE is getting pounded -- practically the whole state is filled with heavy thunderstorms.
  18. Been a rainy afternoon and evening in OC MD. Rainfall map has 1.46 for my location in north OC, with some 3.5 inch amounts not too far to the west. Got one period of wind swept heavy rain and winds of about 35. Weather looking great starting tomorrow. I watered the garden back at the desert real heavy this morning.
  19. After this past winter I don't buy anything the Euro shows. Topper Shutt to the Euro: "We had a great run...but it's over."
  20. DCA still with just three 95-degree days so far. We'll see if any are added next week.
  21. Nice picture Weather Will! That view looks just like the one we had last year at Braemar Towers.
  22. We are in OCMD next week. I feel fortunate with the way it's looking. We used to go to the Atlantic Beach, NC area -- looks terrible down there this week!
  23. Just gorgeous out 75 degrees at 1 PM with sun. I would like to request this troughiness in Jan/Feb please. Thanks
  24. We moved to Calvert in fall of 1978 and the house did not have AC! Oh man were we hot. My parents finally got AC in 1990
