  1. 66/61 here now at 12:10pm. Breezy northwest wind too. Lol. How it can go from afternoons of absolute torching to sitting mid-60s is wild. 50s are back in N.NY like MSS.
  2. Front is through BTV… 64/61. Just a wild boundary between cool and absolute torch.
  3. Roughly a half inch here, rounding up by a few hundredths.
  4. You “win.” That’s insane. The 1.45” L.E. in 2+ months. Averaging under 0.75” per month.
  5. A massive reservoir about 20 miles outside Las Vegas… gambling, prostitution, drugs… the vice capital of the world. Organized crime thrives there. You wonder how many people really “disappeared” in that area over the years. Southern VT plateau though…
  6. The western US knows how to do drought. They just keep finding bodies as the water level drops in Lake Mead. The 4th one this summer. Wonder what the drought here in the northeast will uncover… Mob hits left and right. “Boaters found a body inside of a barrel after extremely low water levels exposed the bottom of the lake.” https://www.npr.org/2022/08/08/1116307660/lake-mead-human-remains-fourth-body-swim-beach
  7. Nice, I think I described it the same earlier. Swirling gusty winds, wasn’t like true straight line winds.
  8. No argument on any of that. This weekend into early next week the trough axis is right over us… but then retrogrades westward as we go through next week which would support larger scale SE flow. Eventually by like Aug 18-20 it’s in the Ohio Valley. Good ‘cane look too, sucking up the coast.
  9. Model data averages 2-M temps around normal, GEFS a bit cooler. No one is saying it’s cold, but after this stretch, this is a noticeable change that the public will notice. Hopefully dews stay up for you my man. I’m also not even sure it happens but on a science forum we have some data saying a change is going to happen. These are 2-M temps days 5-9 averaged.
  10. The ensembles are sort of done with the torch after Thursday. Just nice August weather after that. We can argue if they are right or wrong but they all say the same thing Day 5-9. EPS: The GEFS… And why not the Canadian ensembles too?
  11. We know you don’t look at model data and rather mock data you don’t agree with, but numerous models have decent anomalies at 850mb this weekend. Doesn’t mean jacket weather, just a break. Here’s Euro:
  12. You’ve only had 4.40” since May 1st or June 1st? Around 12” here since 5/1. West side of Mansfield in Underhill looks to be leading the state of VT with 16.5”-17.5”.
  13. Just saw MVL ASOS gusted 43mph with that storm. Sounds about right, I would’ve estimated in the 40-50mph zone. More than enough to risk losing some full foliage branches and stuff. Probably the best wind of a storm yet this season.
  14. Just about the same rain with round one, Stratus is just a tick above 0.30” line. We had some pretty solid winds too, thought we might lose power to be honest, downbursty swirling with the heavy rain.
  15. Looks like 90-91F again so far for MVL and MPV. Dews near 70F. High end stuff up here… while it’s in the 60s like 30-40 miles north.
  16. Up this way it sagged south this morning but almost seems to be retreating north a bit as a warm front. Must be a little wave rippling through.
  17. A/C humming along while folks are wearing hoodies and pants like a county to the north.
  18. Just a wild boundary to be honest. Baking here in mid-80s with dews of 70F. Meanwhile one county northwest along the Canadian border is low 60s. Widespread low to mid 60s like 30 miles north. This is like a winter-time low level CAA coming down the Champlain Valley. Northern CPV colder than the 2,000ft site by Jay Peak. Even Picnic Tables on Mansfield are hotter than the northern Lake basin.
  19. I feel so naive. Guess we need to visit now. The wife will be devastated.
  20. Looks like they recorded about 0.40” between 5:45 and 5:50pm… almost a 5”/hr rain rate. That’s some torrential rain. A couple good drinks for a few folks in CT, it’s a start.
  21. I know nothing about HI climate, but how can an island in the middle of the ocean have big humidity differences? I’ll have to do some looking at it, I just pictured the islands all similar climate.
  22. 77/73 after 8:30pm… might be the most tropical night of the summer. Windows fogging from A/C style. Even the dog doesn’t want to go outside.
  23. Went for a hike after work today, holy crap. Felt like I was on a spiritual journey in a Native American sweat lodge, only thing missing was hallucinating on peyote. Haven’t been soaked with sweat like that in a very long time, ha. Like jumping into the river with all my clothes on. Even my wallet and shoes are wet somehow. Does oddly feel cleansing sweating that much but a good 2-hour workout in this weather means we need to replace that dehydration with double IPAs I guess. 7pm and it’s still 84/72 at MVL. Wild.
  24. Honestly had no idea the Cape had fresh water bodies that big. That’s awesome. Water has to be so much warmer than the ocean.
