I had to drive thru Midwood to get to work that morning...no one was on the roads but me so it wasn't a bad drive except for a street being closed due to a tree falling over...many a pine tree and bush looked deformed that Spring...

Newark NJ had 28 days with a minimum 32 or lower...tied for 9th most since 1957... 31 in 1977 30 in 1970... 30 in 2009... 29 in 2003... 29 in 1985... 29 in 1981... 29 in 1976... 29 in 1957... 28 in 2022...2011...1996...1994...1982...1978...1971...1965...1961...

southern Brooklyn and the east shore of Staten Island got close or over 10"...

in my lifetime only two winters had a cold January and February after a warm December...1957-58 and 2014-15...both el nino years...1993-94 and 1967-68 had a cold Jan/Feb after a mild Dec...both neutral years...1984-85 was cold January and the first half of February but the second half of Feb was warm...

they left out the 0.2" that fell earlier in the day...they treated it as two seperate events...

15.3" of snow in one month is significant...Atlantic City has 36" so far...the model mania ruined it for some people but not me...

10" imby...very nice storm...

that happened to me but I was in a stuper at the time and woke up at 12 noon......

I just showed a video with snow falling in the daytime...

they were a week apart...the first storm on the 11th started as rain and measured 5" in Central park...less in southern Brooklyn...the 11th-23rd of January was a very cold period with 10.5" of snow...

two analogs that might be good for this year are 1956-57 and 1984-85... NYC got 13" of snow on December 21-22 1959 but it wasn't a KU event...it was a localized event...

it would be nice to start a cold two week period with a blizzard...last time that happened was in January 1961...that two week cold wave had book end storms and many little events in between...Feb 1979 and 2003 had a great two weeks starting off with a modest snowstorm and ending with a bang...1961 and 1979 were extremely cold and snowy...
