wet snow near the water here...2.3"...go about a mile inland and it's one degree colder and the snow stuck everywhere...

the 1956-57 analog had almost an inch of snow on 2/13...it really warmed up near the end of the month...Feb 28 was colder and it snowed 2-3" on March 1st...the second half of this February looks even warmer than Feb 57...After tomorrow we might not see any snow until March if then...if NYC gets 1.5" tomorrow the seasonal total would reach 17"...just about what was recorded up to Feb 13 in 1957...

with a dew point in the low 20's I wouldn't worry to much...

1978 it was a great storm in Brooklyn and that February 1978 did not have a drop of rain...only snow fell...the January 78 big storm was almost as big on my block...that was wiped out by a big cutter with rain four days later...Early March 78 was another storm that had sleet mixed in...it was a great slow starting winter...

I lived in Wellsville NY for a year when I was four years old...It snowed alot while I was there making me a snow weenie for life...Northeast Pa is the best place to see snow and its only two hours from NYC...

it had 63 days with a trace of snow on the ground...we have not seen that many days with a trace of snow on the ground since 1995-96... snow depth days for Newark N.J....trace days are days with a trace on the ground at observation time... if 0.4" or less falls anytime during the day it is also a trace for that day...some streaks had no snow at am obs time but snow fell later in the day...this continued the streak...1", 4", 10", 15" and 20" days were handled the same way...if 1" fell late in the day and 1" was on the ground the next morning it would be considered two 1" days...max depth was there were three ice storms in January 94...the one on 1/7-8/94 was all frozen... On Feb 3-4th, 1970 we had rain that changed to freezing rain in the late evening and snow by 11pm...3" of powder fell on black ice...This was a very dangerous storm...temps went from 56 to 10 in 24 hours...

my block had more sleet than say JFK...I had a girl friend in east NY and the Howard Beach area was mostly freezing rain...1-2" thick...there was no power failures as far as I can remember...
