  1. Yup that's where I'm going to finish at too, 3.5. It's still snowing and accumulating but the back edge appears to be just minutes away on the radar. I was asleep when it started but I know it was snowing at 5am so it's 11 hours now. 27/25/N3/SN-
  2. Yeah Best way I know of to ruin a nice fluff storm.
  3. I had just under 3" from the main burst this morning. I've been literally on the fringe since with occasional flurries with slightly heavier bursts for a minute or three at a time, nothing that accumulated though but, for the last 30 minutes or so it's been mystery precip. It's frozen but really wet and now everything I cleaned is a sheet of ice and it's flipping back to all light snow as I'm typing. It ought to be fun when this sticks to the layer of ice that's forming on everything 28/26/NE2/SN-
  4. Not looking so good now. Snow is ending and it looks like the stream of precip is lifting north. Bummer.
  5. Bummer, snow is ending It looks like the southern edge is lifting northward. Is that it for today?
  6. Fairy Dust or Diamond Dust. I love that stuff. I've seen it accumulate an inch or two in the mountains when it's really cold, ultimate fluff. It's the residual moisture freezing out of the air and it tends to happen after a warm(ish) sunny day with really low RH. As the snow surface melts a bit the humidity in the lowest levels shoots way up and then the sun goes down and it's a rapid drop the dust starts to freeze out around 10-15*.
  7. Oops, put this in the discussion thread not the obs thread - 20/18/E1/SN but the intensity is wavering between light and moderate, flake size is tiny and visibility is decent at the moment. Looks to be approaching 3" as the sat antenna on my truck is 2.6" high and is covered.
  8. 3-4 more inches and avg will be reached. ~3" on the ground so far this morning and it's looking good for a few more. Bring it!
  9. 20/18/E1/SN but the intensity is wavering between light and moderate, flake size is tiny and visibility is decent at the moment. Looks to be approaching 3" as the sat antenna on my truck is 2.6" high and is covered.
  10. Good morning! Snowing hard, upper end of moderate. As mentioned above densely packed small flakes so it's a nice thick coating accumulating fairly quickly. Not like the last two storms because the flakes are smaller but over 1" already with visibility around 1200 feet. It's cold and fluffy. 19/17/E1/SN
  11. I think I'm around 42" so approaching the 21st century average now, probably will hit it tomorrow. It's all gravy after that.
  12. I'm over 30 for the month. After yesterday the driveway banks are shoulder to over the head high and cleaning the driveway is a heckuva project but at this point I say bring it on. If it's gonna be a pita it might as well be a big one.
  13. Damn it's chilly out there right now. 8° feels extra cold.
  14. Wow that sux. Sure it will get covered back up for the winter but when it starts to melt in the spring and all the sand floats to the top it will accelerate the melt dramatically. That means floods in the spring and low water levels in the late summer and fall because the melt wasn't spread out enough.
  15. P&C has me for 1-2" Tuesday. Do we still think that's going to happen?
  16. I'm still getting very light flurries. I just took the garbage out and there's a fresh coating since it "ended".
  17. I can't believe it's still snowing. I thought the last time I shoveled was going to be it. I was wrong. Very pretty storm, little wind and it's wet enough that it stuck to everything and it's got that nice poofy rounded look on everything.
  18. Another 20" over the next 10 days? My driveway banks are already at my shoulder height. I'm out of room. The sun can come out now. Thanx Today sure didn't underperform here. You guys just need to come to the LHV Alps.
  19. Fluffy but not fluffy. I had a hard time finding spots of 6" so it's fair to call it at 5". It's still snowing but vis is up to 1/4mi and the flakes are small. 29/28/N4/SN
  20. 29/28/NNE2/SN The flakes just got huge and the temp came up a degree. It feels like this one is just about over. Going out to measure now.
  21. Nearing 6" now. Easy to shovel until it's a pile and then it packs tight and gets heavy. I'm at the high end of my expectations so the rest is all gravy.
  22. 28/27/NE1/SN+ (maybe ++) This is as hard as it snowed at any point a few days ago. Temp is low enough that it's fluffy but it's wet snow, it gets heavy as soon as it's disturbed and piled when shoveling. Seems like about 6", I'll measure an undisturbed spot when it finishes in a little while.
