  1. Looks like I missed out on the first round of snow showers this afternoon, maybe one of the popcorn kernels will roll over me.
  2. Looks like some snow blossoming on radar to my WNW. The way the clouds settled in over the last 30 minutes sure makes it feel like it's about to snow. 37/27/ VRBL SW-W 3-7
  3. ^^ Here too. That makes 3 days in a row with noticeable snowfall
  4. There was some random flakeage for a little while this afternoon, both ahead of and during the squall line passage. Yesterday a few times when the clouds thickened and the wind came up there were flakes too. At least it looked wintry for a second or three two days in a row.
  5. Yay No snow left at all other than a few tiny piles, plenty of mud though I only got a half inch. No, that's not what she said.
  6. Still gross with dense fog. Thankfully it's 33° so the ice melted
  7. Yay for freezing (dense) fog It's ugly out there this morning.
  8. The difference is they have real altitude whereas we have a few hundred feet of relief.
  9. I still have some snow too and yes, it has been a few degrees above normal but it has been grey and it feels cold. Heckuva way to run a winter. Blah
  10. The overcast set in just a few minutes after sunrise today. It's cold, humid and, well, gross out there. I was hoping for the nice day that had been forecasted to do a bunch of work on the car because it really sux doing that when your hands are so cold it's hard to hold tools and it's too easy to drop small bits because you don't really feel them right. There's an idea for a new business formulating in my head because I figure there are lots of folks like me that want to do their own service work on the cars but don't have the right facility to do it when the weather is less than perfect.
  11. Yup but other than shaded northerly aspects there's no snow left here. 15/39 and grey, the grey made it feel cold.
  12. Yeah right, nice enough early morning and blah the rest of the day. That's part of why we went to LI for a walk on the beach Sunday, change of scenery and some brightness. It was sunny all day down there. That was nice.
  13. Yup, thickest frost in a long time this morning. Such fascinating weather...
  14. With such fascinating weather recently things like sunrise, sunset and how thick the frost is in the morning have been of prime importance. This morning is the thickest frost yet, so much so that it really looked like it snowed a bit overnight.
  15. Even the ski zones are mostly dry save for a handful of areas. Stowe/Smuggs/Jay in VT and Snow Ridge/McCauley/Titus in the NY North Country. Ugly...
  16. "should have" "could have" etc. Not should of and could of. Sorry but that's been all over the interwebs for the last few years and it bugs me. Cold(ish) and cloudy makes it feel and look like it wants to snow but when you know that's not the case the cold is just annoying. I understand snowbirds more and more as I get older.
  17. Hey my kids want to go for a walk on the beach today, any place that might be better wind sheltered than another? North shore - south shore, east or west doesn't matter but when I looked quickly it seems that there's a good stiff northerly "breeze" today.
  18. Ya know if it's going to be dry and nice like this it should at least be a bit warmer.
  19. Yeah but that didn't get me close to avg for the year. I'm concerned that if we don't bank some precip over the next two months we'll see wells running dry early this year. We need 3-4 feet of snow to do a slow soak into the ground to help alleviate the problem. That said, I don't think we're going to see that happen.
  20. Ha! Well done. I dont know that I've ever seen anyone use that song in conversation before.
  21. Funny because one of my prime missions is going to be a southerly aspect, easier on heating and snow removal but with tall deciduous growth so it's shaded in the summer. I don't need snow right outside my door but I need to be part of the storms and to see it and play in it when it's over. I had a condo in Steamboat the first year I lived there and the deck faced SSE so we could sit out there and have coffee in the morning in January when it was 12* and be comfortable in t-shirts. I want that situation to be part of my retirement gig It'll also be better for gardening and creating my own food.
  22. It's so not wintry feeling this year. Even the big storm and good coverage for a while last month didn't really do it.
  23. I woke up a few times overnight to look at my "snow light" and... nuthin' Ehh, at least it looks like it's going to be pretty nice for the next few days.
