  1. Yup. Other than just a bit of additional spillover right along the spine of the divide almost all of the big snows are east of the western river basins and will give no benefit at all.
  2. What impressed me most is it's not a local or even regional thing, it was the whole quarter of the country for a while
  3. The radar presentation is pretty cool today. Popcorn convective stuff with embedded blobs of wet, white and frozen from VA to WI to northern New England. Yay spring
  4. Decent storms, not much wind but lotsa rain (1.1") with some good lightning and thunder.
  5. I saw 3 flakes today, hopefully the last for the year. It's time to wrap this stinker up and toss it with the dirty diapers.
  6. That line of mixed precip coming at us from the SW looks like it might mean business for a little while. Will it still be as significant as it looks now when it gets here? When will it get here?
  7. We're talking about Thursday afternoon when things potentially get ugly, right? My kid is flying into LGA at 11am, it should be ok right?
  8. This fits into the thread you just started but, with the northward movement of plant life that had previously been native to further south than here there are more semi-native plants that will be affected by these late season cold shots.
  9. I've been ranging from light flurries to moderate wind-driven squally stuff. It really doesn't feel like (I want it to at) the end of March but I guess I shouldn't be surprised... The radar is lit up around the region and looks more like late December than March.
  10. This isn't just flurries. I really didn't think this streamer would hold together but, here it is. Damn...
  11. @Juliancolton are you under that streamer that's been stretched across Dutchess for a few hours now?
  12. See I told ya it was gonna happen. I swapped out the winter wheels on the car last week in a kind of psych out move. Apparently it worked. You're all welcome.
  13. Leaf out looks to be ready to happen any minute now and y'all are talking about snow. Remember 4/1/97? Yeah. Big mess. We can't stop the trees from doing their thing so IMO we should wish this to be a rainstorm because I really don't want another tree to take out the power line to our house again. That was stupid expensive...
  14. Well, it looks like the trees and assorted other flora are about to leaf out any minute now. Unfortunately, if the chatter about colder and possibly whiter rather than wetter around the end of the month is right I'm foreseeing a situation like 4/1/97 but I can't imagine anything like 17" in a few hours this time around. Trees down, no power for a few days and lots of manual labor to clean up afterwards. I really don't feel like going through that again being 25 years older...
  15. Of course it's gonna get cold again, I took the winter wheels off our cars this morning. I did it for you guys
  16. @mjo - So much effort... You ought to take a nap now. Man it's nice out there now. It's a yardwork kinda day, there's plenty to clean up after all the ice damage.
  17. I'm going to guarantee it snows again before it's all over. I'm taking the winter wheels off the car today.
  18. Are we really thinking that we're done with snow for the season? I mean, a wet inch here and there are always expected up here through mid April but outside of those events is there anything of consequence implied or expected? We have a good sized road trip (to VA) late next week and I'd really like to take the winter wheels off before we go because the tires that came with the car are useless in the slippery stuff.
  19. As I drove through your area yesterday that was my first thought and I wondered if you would post about it.
  20. Yeah, ski season is going away quickly...
  21. I just did another lap out to Buffalo and the epicness of mud season around the state this year is admirable.
  22. Being just that little bit further north means better access to the cold air when it's available. This should mean that there's a wider disparity in temps thereby creating more intense precip (which could be snow or rain).
  23. This was a blob of snow over MN this morning and moved across through the day. I'm actually surprised it held together all day. I've been looking forward to it getting here since early this morning.
