  1. Are we really thinking that we're done with snow for the season? I mean, a wet inch here and there are always expected up here through mid April but outside of those events is there anything of consequence implied or expected? We have a good sized road trip (to VA) late next week and I'd really like to take the winter wheels off before we go because the tires that came with the car are useless in the slippery stuff.
  2. As I drove through your area yesterday that was my first thought and I wondered if you would post about it.
  3. Yeah, ski season is going away quickly...
  4. I just did another lap out to Buffalo and the epicness of mud season around the state this year is admirable.
  5. Being just that little bit further north means better access to the cold air when it's available. This should mean that there's a wider disparity in temps thereby creating more intense precip (which could be snow or rain).
  6. This was a blob of snow over MN this morning and moved across through the day. I'm actually surprised it held together all day. I've been looking forward to it getting here since early this morning.
  7. If you have the memories that you do I think you should qualify as a museum piece which would mean they should pay you to be there. Try that next time and see where it gets you
  8. I'd like to have memories of streetcars but that's a few minutes before my time
  9. Is it gonna snow a bit in a little while? The radar says it will.
  10. Start with a 7° per 1k feet temp difference then figure in all of the things that come with that and it starts to come into focus. Pay more attention to microclimates right here in the lohud and see the changes in 300 foot (or less) differences.
  11. Back to a half mile or so vis with small flakes and it has that winding down feel. This backside band meant business! It was easily 2"/hr at the peak and put down a bit over 3" (so far). This one went from blah to Rahrah! at the end. Puts me solidly above 50% of average territory at 27"..
  12. This is the best backside snow I've had here in years, I don't even remember the last time this happened. It's a snow globe world out there, it was easily 2"/hr at the peak and it's still 1"/hr. I have easily 3" additional and may get another half before that sharp back edge gets here. This went from an uninspiring whatever to a powdery wonderland in an hour. I'm at exactly half of my annual normal so if this is where it ends I'll be ok with it.
  13. Moderate+, 21°, windy with big flakes and it's accumulating again. If it's the last one for the season at least it looks good.
  14. Well, I might have shot that wad a little prematurely it's snowing pretty hard and covered everything again. It's cold and it's windy with driving snow. It's winter! For one more day...
  15. Snowing lightly, small flakes and pretty windy but not really accumulating. Everything is freezing up so get out there now and move anything you don't want to fight with tomorrow.
  16. 2" of white rain. Sure it accumulated but it's melting from underneath and the roads are already clear. It's pretty now but there's a lot of weight on budding branches that will freeze soon. When that wind comes up it's gonna get interesting.
  17. Yup the flip just happened. Went from rain to driving sleet to wind driven big flakes in the space of 5 minutes. Temp is still well above freezing but ought to get down there pretty quickly now.
  18. Because I was never able to measure over 2" at any point during the day. I shoveled 1.4 and 1.5 from the same spot so maybe it would have been over 3 with the final .5 I got but I didn't get to measure it that way. There were surfaces that had 4" and those were really representative of what actually fell but wouldn't qualify so I know what happened but don't claim it. It was a gorgeous drive up to Cortland NY this morning. Some of the high spots along 17 and 81 were sparkly and the low spots were eerie with freezing fog.
  19. Heh, it started snowing pretty hard again with big flakes and put down a quick .5 and now with it getting dark and still snowing maybe I get another half, that would be nice.
  20. I dunno, I'd rather get more good quality snow than 2 or 3" of slush. ...and that's what I got today, 2-3" of mush. It's more like 4" on certain surfaces. 2" max on the driveway away from the house because it's melting from underneath. 2" puts me at 21" for the season!
  21. Overperformer? Sort of. In shady areas that haven't really warmed up despite temps in the 60s have well over 1" but everything else is .5 or so. Some hard exposed surfaces are over 1 too. If this was at night with the same temps I think it would be more like 3 or even 4". This assinine obsession with it needing to snow during the day so it can be seen is bullxxxx. They want extreme, more more... and then complain it sux because it melts off quickly but they want it during the day. In March
