  1. Enough with the damn rain at these temps What a mess.
  2. It keeps flipping between precip types. The stuff on the ground is as dense as anything I've ever seen. 23° and ugly.
  3. It was nice snow for a while, good growth and the wind was NE but then, all of a sudden a few minutes ago it flipped to heavy sleet (again). 24/23/ENE3
  4. Transitioning to mostly snow with some sleet mixed in. There's a layer of ice coating everything. How unfortunate that it started wet, it's dangerous out there.
  5. Transitioned to mostly snow with some sleet mixed in after coating the place in a thin layer of ice. I opened the driveway door to check it out- Yuck.
  6. It started as heavy freezing rain mixed with sleet at 27°. The temp is down 1 to 26, everything is iced over already and it's loud outside with heavy sleet falling. This sux
  7. Yeah I'm at ~17", should be at 36-40 and annual is 48-52. How did we pull off 30+ days with snowcover? Haha
  8. 54/53, that's down 2° already since earlier this morning.
  9. Sleet is better than ice. Sorta. I don't know what to think for me here on Friday but I'm pretty sure I need more beer and a bottle of bourbon. Maybe some milk and cookies too
  10. I saw 59 on the dashboard and on a bank 2 minutes later so it's valid Damn it felt good working outside today. In fact, I think I'm gonna pop another beer and go back outside. R**n tomorrow, warm ski day Wednesday then watch the show at the end of the week. Gotta stop at a brewery and distillery along the way Wed. and stock up.
  11. Or we could pave paradise and put up a parking lot. Get outside and do something fun for a change. Maybe ... Go skiing
  12. It's nice to know that you don't care that a large portion of my income (and personal pleasure) is dependent on that industry. Thanks
  13. I think you're underestimating the weight and density of the cold to the north. IMO this storm doesn't have the oomph to push very far into an expanding cold air mass.
  14. Meh, it covered unpaved surfaces but just barely. Maybe .2" but at least it looks wintry for a day or so. Looking forward to a few more warm days but could do without the r**n. End of the week looks interesting, hope I can get home before it turns icky, I need to be in Buffalo on Thursday.
  15. I was wondering what was happening up there. Post some links to where the pics are. I saw that it was snowing pretty hard this morning at Titus Mt ski area in Malone so I assumed it was locking back up already. It's not?
  16. I hope the wind stays up for a while after this rain and melt is over otherwise the mud is gonna be unbearable for a while. This warm shot broke winters back in a different way that a lot of people won't realize, the ground thawed at least a few inches down. It was nicely frozen and the melted surface even refroze with the weekend cold shot, that won't be the case this time. From here on out any frozen precip that happens will melt out from the bottom as well as the top. Blah...
  17. It's either an emotional one shot wonder boost or a prolonged hassle with associated mud season to follow. If the hassle is feet of snow and a near record late season snowpack I'm in but a couple of 4-6" rapid meltoffs would be a waste.
  18. I just want a short period with an actual snowpack, not just this 2" uselessness. I want one night where I need to be outside shoveling while the storm is doin' its thing around me. Then it should go right to 70° and bike/golf season
  19. Even though I am still below 20" on the season I wouldn't say it has been all bad. January was plenty cold and there has been snow on the ground for more than 30 days straight. There have been many days with snow falling to keep the wintry appeal strong too. Sure I'd rather be at 36"+ but it can't be all about snowfall to the exclusion of other aspects of winter.
