  1. So it's not all transportation contributing equally to that aspect of air pollution. Apparently it's primarily from buses and commercial trucking so, I'm thinking the solution is to get people into their own cars and off the buses and maybe people should disperse across the land rather than cluster into small zones that necessitate a huge number of trucks delivering things like food...
  2. I went there last year, that place is beautiful.
  3. How far off is the new .7 below normal from the previous period?
  4. We heard that Binghamton and the middle of the state got sorta beat up with the snow but I heard from a customer today that we only got a small part of the story. His store has been closed since they closed Saturday because they had no power until this afternoon and may not have internet for another couple of days. He said half the city is still out and the hill country north of the city is a real mess.
  5. There ought to be more than enough surface moisture for full leaf out to happen pretty quickly now.
  6. Flurrying lightly here in Mahopac now.
  7. For now I'll just keep the brassicas inside where they seem to be pretty happy. I've been waiting until I see steady warmth from 14 days out to even start some of the other stuff so maybe things will dry out and the soil will actually warm up and I can plant by early May for mid May replant outside. For now it's just regrowth from last year and some peas and beans that I put out already.
  8. An inch and a half of rain, it's windy, misty and 40°. It sure feels like the second half of April
  9. I thought I heard some pingers right at the start but really, all I've gotten is a lot of rain. 1.42" so far.
  10. That's ok, the garden is doing so well snow might be a problem. The berries are jamming right along and the garlic is doing incredibly well.
  11. What do we think about Jay on Wednesday? I still have my Indy passes for there.
  12. Blue skies, bright sun with snowflakes falling. Good stuff
  13. Ha. I have a couple of old milk cans that are used exactly the same way yours is
  14. Dude... Some thoughts are better when you keep them to yourself.
  15. I never expect full leaf out here until the third week of April but, as usual, "green up" has started. The buds are filling out on almost everything and some things like berries and rhododendrons are bursting today. There's a very noticeable difference in the ground moisture as every plant around started sucking the ground dry last week to make it happen so even with the recent rain it's not as soggy as you'd expect. It's almost here, pretty much right on time.
  16. Yup. I had two heavy white rain bursts today.
  17. I was just looking at some of the ski cams from around the state and it's snowing in a lot of the hilly areas. This broad circulation has been great to watch for a bunch of days now.
  18. Popcorn shower cells keeping everything wet. Yuck
  19. And to think, I used to enjoy springtime
  20. It was an interesting drive north on 22 yesterday morning. The Croton River was raging and barely within it's banks in a few spots then on the north side of The Great Swamp the flooding was up onto the road in Wingdale. It was easily 10" deep in 2 spots. I went up to the Slate Valley area and it was soaked all the way up with high water problems in a few spots. ...and it's raining again
  21. I don't remember the spring of 83 being terribly wet on the South Shore but I do remember the ski season wrapping up early and then the surfing sucked until about mid June.
