This rain is the real deal. The thunder rocked the house a few minutes ago and the dog got all worried. Lightning and sharp cracks now Looks like the fire danger is going down here.

The smoke plume from that fire is pretty cool from over here. The air quality sucks Is it really going to be gloomy for a few days with no significant precip unless a tstorm happens to roll over? Yuck.

I can think of a few times where School 5 had a snow day but Boardman didn't, couldn't give you dates because 40 years...

I saw 90+ on the dashboard a few times, 93 in Goldens Bridge around 5:30. It was mid 80s away from the water on Fire Island.

We went for a nice long walk up in Fahnestock along the AT and it's parched. Even north facing slopes that would usually be moist with small creeks running strong this time of year were all dry and loose. We went right back to last years surface dryness

I've pretty much given up on doing a garden this year. It's already dusty a few inches down and getting worse by the minute and as I found out a few times now, most plants don't like the water that comes out of our well. I think I'm just going to throw out a bunch of flower seeds and let the soil recover after the mess it turned into last year. Its awfully nice out there this morning, go out and do something!

34 here on the hill, 27-29 down by the river. There's a nice, thick frost coating on the cars.

Boy they're getting whacked on the other end of the state right now. The mesonet station a quarter mile from my kid's apt in Brockport is down 25° since 5pm,they went from filtered sun to t-storms with heavy rain and 50mph wind to 20s with heavy snow and 20+ winds. Good stuff.

Near perfect temps, a slight breeze and abundant sunshine through still (mostly) bare trees drying out the forest floor surface ought to make today a great day to go for a hike.

I'm so glad it's not winter anymore or I'd have to be really disappointed in this wind driven 36° rain. Instead I can think of it as bringing May flowers and appreciate it

I've got waves of pretty heavy sleet showers moving through for the last 20 minutes or so. At 35° it's mostly rain but in the heavier showers it tries to accumulate.

Yup. 17" of paste took a branch down on the tree in our front yard that landed right on the power line to the house. It sparked all night long and scorched the side of the house,I think the only reason it didn't light the house up was the heavy, wind driven snow being blown right into it. I heard about that transformer fire the next day.

The last April Fools storm was a disaster here. I would be ok with it if that doesn't happen again.
