  1. Looks like I got ~.7. I was all around WNY today and as the front passed this morning it turned decidedly fall like. The wind turned steady out of the NW and it dried out quickly while still being convective with that mean sky. The wind was a handful at times. My daughter even noted that it's the first time it feels like fall not just a cool summer evening.
  2. It's full on autumn north of I90 but it's like all the farmers are delaying the harvest as long as possible. In some places 1/3 or more of the fields are standing dead though
  3. .2. Headed out of town for a few days to do a lap of the state. Literally. Plattsburgh tomorrow, Syracuse Wednesday and Buffalo Thursday then home to repack Friday and on to Suffolk County on Saturday. Good thing gas isn't still over $5/gal.
  4. Looks like a fair bit of rain incoming. I'll take it.
  5. My kid is at school in Brockport and she said the thunder was making the ground shake, it's dark like nighttime and the rain is insane.
  6. It's an awfully warm 82°, feels like 90
  7. Nice day Garden is happy but if we don't get rain on Monday it won't stay that way. I haven't done anything other than tend to things that were dormant and now there's also a fair bit of new growth. I think a slow half inch on Monday might keep it going for a bit longer.
  8. I drove through some crazy heavy downpours on Rt 32 between Rosendale and Cairo a few hours ago. I forgot what it's like...
  9. Yup. I put in some turnips, parsnips and another round of dill and cilantro. I'll probably add a few more herbs, should also add some leafy greens and garlic goes in early next month. I think it's too late for them to bear fruit but I also have tomatoes going crazy from the little stumps I had left.
  10. I've got stuff that spent all summer languishing going to seed today, pepper plants that haven't produced a pepper in weeks are filled with dozens today and some are already an inch or more long and seeds that didn't sprout all year are popping now. Weird shit...
  11. .14 but it's wetter than you'd expect after so little.
  12. That's why I "wasted" my 20s traveling around the continent. I went from AK to Mexico, east coast to west coast and all over in between. I've only missed 6 states, couldn't drive to one of those is the excuse though, so the quest isn't fully complete but it's close.
  13. Considering the situation today I bet the Cannonsville and Pepacton will see HUGE increases over this.
  14. My dryness started last fall with a bit less rain than normal and then was 25" below avg snowfall with about 6" less overall precip through the winter. Early spring was near normal but that fell apart and it stopped raining in June. I'm down way more than the official numbers show and considering the soil is powdery going down over 2 feet now I'd say yeah, it's more extreme than most folks think.
  15. This wasn't much of a drought buster here. You'd think that 3.66" would have a great impact right? I dug a few small 4-5" deep holes in the garden to see what the soil moisture is like and they are still dry and powdery at 3-4". The local creeks and rivers were raging and the reservoirs filled up completely but that's because the bulk of this didn't get a chance to soak in. We're going to see a huge explosion of growth and greenery now because the plants that didn't die were dormant but this didn't do squat towards the long term solution here.
  16. 3.66 It's just been drizzle for the last few hours but afaik it never really stopped. Interesting radar this morning.
  17. 3.6 Dug a 4-5" deep hole in the garden and it's still dry and powdery. We need two more storms like this.
  18. I'd like it to be over now. See what ya can do.
  19. Haha with these tight gradients you guys are seeing I could only imagine the explosion of emotions it would be if it was so close between 3" and a foot of snow that you could pretty much see it. We would hear the screaming all the way up here
  20. Same here. It has been steady between heavy mist and light rain for a while now. It's not adding up quickly, .06 in 2 hours, but the soaking is nice.
  21. 3.4 and still raining lightly. I'd have to go back and add it up again but I think that's more than I've had in total since about mid to late May.
  22. 3.3 Looks like back edge is approaching on radar
