  1. Crazy! It's totally calm in Maggie and very thick fog has settled in. I'm sitting at 46 and the only sound I hear is Jonathan Creek rushing through town. I ended up with 1.73 inches in the gage for this event.
  2. Hey Gang. I really appreciate all of you and it was great to see so many folks that don't normally hangout in our Mountain threads year round. Thanks for letting an old man that has loved all things weather since a little boy participate and pass along a little bit of what I've learned and occasionally share some information from longtime friends in the weather business.
  3. So paying $20 a month for the privilege to look at it. Thank you for letting us know. My days of paying anything for my weather passed when I started living on a fixed income, but that's just me.
  4. My grandma told many decades ago..."believe nothing you hear and half what you see". But that was 60 years ago before AI was even dreamed of. She was born in 1900.
  5. The back edge of the precipitation is here. Skies are brightening to the West of the house. Very thankful that we escaped the worst of it here in the Valley! It looks like I have a little over an inch and a half in the gage.
  6. It continues to look like an active weather pattern with cold air fully entrenched across our Region. Flow snow develops tonight into tomorrow. Another shortwave arrives Tuesday afternoon bringing an additional shot of snow before a much stronger shortwave rounds the base of the Polar Vortex lobe Wednesday afternoon bringing a better chance of accumulations. GSP is stating snow chances almost anytime from Tuesday afternoon to Thursday evening. GSP also stated that the guidance is beginning to pick up another storm system next Saturday with additional snow chances possibly spreading beyond the Mountains.
  7. Pouring down here at the house the past 15 minutes. Temperature is down to 49.
  8. Yes it is. Tornado Watch up for portions of Southern Alabama and SW Georgia. I've had more branches come down when the gusts started this morning than most of the Winter so far.
  9. Currently 55 at the house with winds gusting to 35. Looks like a squall line has developed across Alabama and steadily marching our way. It should arrive this afternoon and then the temperature plummets this evening. I suspect that the winds will be very gusty behind the front with flow snow getting going after midnight.
  10. That's what I was telling Met1985 earlier. Looks like nice little event. It also looks like clipper after clipper the next week or two as well.
  11. 47 with light rain. I dodged a bullet and never lost power overnight.
  12. Cataloochee has freezing rain and 31 currently. I'm down to 28 now.
  13. Down to 31. Everything elevated has iced over. Deck is beginning to freeze now. Asphalt drive is OK at the moment. I guess it's time to put some salt down so we don't fall while taking the dogs out.
  14. Edit to add: I have ice on the outdoor grill. Temperature just dropped to 32.
  15. Moderate sleet at times. Temp down another degree to 34.
  16. There have been Severe Thunderstorm Warnings off the Upper Texas Gulf Coast and SW Louisiana this afternoon.
  17. Temperature is dropping. My high today was 38 about a half hour ago. Currently 35 with light sleet.
  18. 37 now. Light snow beginning again at Cataloochee. They're reporting 29.
