  1. I had a nice half hour shower today, but no thunder. Tomorrow looks similar. Tuesday we should get a front drifting in from the NW. Not sure how much progress it makes, but hopefully some drier air arrives for the Forth of July Fireworks across the area!
  2. I finally got some rain last evening! My low this morning was 60 which felt so refreshing after a few days of very warm weather.
  3. Another day of noisy thunderstorms all around and not a drop of rain.
  4. We had a lot of thunder but no rain. Temperature did drop from 87 to 77 in an hour and it's currently 73. If the Slight Risk holds tomorrow, fingers crossed we get some rain locally.
  5. Pulse storms are popping this afternoon for Mountain Folk. Hopefully we'll see some cooling rain locally after a high of 88.
  6. I'm getting alerts from Haywood County about a rock slide near the border on I-40 due to very heavy rainfall. I -40 has been closed both ways. I drove through the Gorge Sunday afternoon and it took me an hour and twenty minutes to get through from the Tennessee side.
  7. Thunderstorms teased me earlier this evening, but I'm finally reaping the benefits of cells nearby.
  8. It looks like some scattered storms are nearing the border this evening. The models are struggling with the various MCS possibilities over the next several days. The front seems to be meandering across the Virginia's and Eastern Kentucky currently. It's been a minute since we had some rain locally.
  9. We finished the driveway with tar paint. Thankfully the showers were over the high peaks this afternoon. It looks noisy the next few days!
  10. It was almost a perfect day, less that pesky Canadian smoke. Low was 56 and the high was 73 at the house today!
  11. Temperature has dropped to 52 at the house behind the NW flow showers. We likely are heading toward the mid 40’s in the morning of the last day of May!
  12. We may need to keep on eye on the Eastern Gulf during the second week of June. The models and their ensembles have been suggesting tropical mischief possibly developing and moving toward Coast.
  13. It's been raining the past hour and temperature is 58...on Memorial Day! The models suggest our unsettled pattern persists into early June. Our friend from Houston arrived this evening and is chilly. I love our Mountains!
  14. Temperature is slowly falling well into the low 60's now and we could make a run at the upper 30’s by daybreak tomorrow. It appears a pesky blocking pattern persists into early June.
  15. It's been an incredibly windy day in the Valley with wind gusts exceeding 40 mph at times. Travels up and down Soco Rd required both hands on the steering wheel!
  16. Chilly weather has arrived. Looks like a wet pattern arrived with our pesky upper trough. Models are suggesting upper air pattern remains active across the Mountains into early June.
  17. Changes are brewing for next week into the Memorial Day Weekend.
  18. The models suggest we move to a typical chance of daytime showers the next few days. It looks like the persistent Eastern trough lingers into Memorial Day.
  19. We're getting a loud message from GSP and the State regarding this heavy rain event. That's a good thing! I'm sure that a lot of folks get a little nervous when we have a heavy rainfall event forecast for our area.
  20. Yeah, I was coming in here to mention the possibility of multiple days of heavy rainfall chances. We're getting to that time of year for potential monsoonal gyre tropical development as well. The models are hinting of a weak system along the Northern Gulf Coast in the week ahead.
  21. Having a 15% Hatched for large hail is nothing to sneeze at for our Mountain folks. I'll be watching to see how things unfold for our neighbors in Eastern Tennessee in the afternoon. It's a good day to keep an eye on the weather.
  22. 38 this morning with clear skies at sunrise. Clouds have rolled in and showers are nearby associated with the cold core upper low.
  23. I woke up to 44 this morning and it's currently 57 at noon! What a beautiful day out there. We had a good turnout for the Spring ride of Thunder In the Smokies this weekend! Last weekend was huge for the SE National Mini Trucks for Maggie! It's good to see folks traveling again after Helene!
