Good quality sounding booms off to my north (from Columbia). Also some building cumulus at sunset in N&NW skies. Radar has something to the north, heading SE-ward so it could be a good hit …. or a swing and a miss. Will know shortly.

Got to 90 here late in afternoon. A bit surprised, didn’t think this morning I’d get there. Still 81 here now at 9:30pm But was outside mowing, working etc earlier from 12-2pm and I found it to be awful. Sweating profusely. The grass got unusually high … unusually quickly … in the past week.

0.40” in today’s late afternoon storm. 6.37” for July so far.

From my view south from Columbia, it looks like a really good electrical storm toward Laurel and Burtonsvillle. Lightning is even intense here. Looks like I could miss by a little, unless it builds northward a bit.

Still raining some but appears to be at least a solid 1.5” so far. Great electrical storm. Temp only has fallen to 76°.

3pm Columbia: still raining steady and rather light, temp down to 79, eyeballing approx 2/10” since about noon, will measure later.

11:20am — That skinny N-S line of rain from Harrisburg to Hanover has managed to blossom imby. Maybe a few hundredths, sidewalks and roads wet.

LWX morning update implies chance for fairly large area to be in a flash flood watch later. May be another day like yesterday: feast or famine.

Maybe the wording will come back but I noticed all mention of rain tonite was removed from my local (Columbia) NWS forecast, at least during the 1pm hour text forecast.
