See that? All they needed to do was put Huntley in ! Fun to watch for a change, yet I keep telling myself “it’s not in the bag just yet”, becuz they have a knack of losing often in the last 3 minutes or less this year. I like Humphrey in general, but he’s getting fooled and beaten too many times so far.

This morning at 5am BWI dropped to 33 while it was 46 imby, a mere 15-20 minute drive to the west of BWI. By 9am things have leveled off, 49 at BWI and still 46 imby/Columbia.

From NCEP Tuesday morning’s extended forecast discussion for 12/26-12/30. Note the word “now” picks up on colder trends. “THE COLDER NORTHERN TIER MAY SEE PLOWABLE SNOW CHANCES FROM THE UPPER GREAT LAKES AND NOW MORE BROADLY ACROSS THE NORTHEAST AND INTO THE NORTHERN MID-ATLANTIC AS SHORTWAVES AND FRONTAL SYSTEMS PASS THROUGH.”

I seem to recall being able to see a poster’s location on my phone if I turned it longways/sideways. I don’t see the location on my phone any more, which is unfortunate for when a poster says “4 inches of snow here” or “ it was 1 degree imby this morning”. is there a setting or something I need to edit to see poster locations on my iPhone?

Columbia east: Just did driveway, walkways and cars. Was nice having a light snowfall to practice on in prep for the real deal(s) — (hopefully after New Years). Sunday morning temps: 5:30am: 32.4 7:45am: 29.7 9:15am: 27.5 Some areas show blades of grass poking thru, mostly under trees; other solid covered areas up to 2”-3”. So for the moment will go with a very unofficial 2” for this system, will reevaluate during this morning

Going outside to cleaning up the cars and sidewalks now before temps freeze everything. Dropped from 32 to 29 over past 2 hours. Columbia: 32.4 at 5:30am 29.7 at 7:45am Ain’t gonna get much better temp-wise today.

9:30pm Columbia 35.3° — just got back from Ellicott City. Was at a meeting thing, but no windows. When I left there at 8:30 it was just starting to sprinkle. In the snowlight now back in Columbia, it looks like a light rain trying to change into something different that isn’t snow.

BWI has been as warm as approx 42 today. I’m a 20-min drive from BWI — generally to the west — to Columbia and have stayed at 37 for hi temp so far. Just a little elevation helps.

I feel bad for folks who moved out to Frederick 20-25 years ago in order to get away from the I-95 craziness. Frederick has gotten so built up — and you don’t want to get caught up in their rush hour on Rt. 15. We hike near/at the Catoctins frequently and getting onto 70-east to head home is frequently a challenge. 34° here currently. -
Saw some inconsequential flurries in Columbia around 5:30am 12/11/25.
