they eeked out the gold because the French judge scored them 8 points higher than Chock and Bates, even with their obvious error. under the old ordinal rules C&B would have won. there are also some really awful issues attached to the personal lives of that French pair, much worse than the cleaned-up for TV commentary tells.

the song he was singing then--Yo Perreo Sola/I Twerk Alone--is literally about women having the freedom to dance without men hitting on them or slut-shaming them or assaulting them. the irony is overwhelming.

overnight low of 1–coldest night this winter. now i am ready for it to warm up.

squall line came through silently—last time there were house-shaking gusts and phones going off. visibility dropped to 1/4-1/2 mile vis, so moderately heavy snow. everything is white again for now.

well that was entertaining. and from a person who said he wanted to be a met major but changed because he learned he was supposed to take a bunch of courses in things like oceanography and chemistry and he was mad because he wanted to take "weather" courses.
