  1. And just like that the SE wind kicked in and the temp has risen to 36.9/24 in just the past 20 minutes. Definitely a few flakes falling now though...white rain for a while most likely
  2. Temp down to 34.5/25 here in the valley, off a high of 38.5 and a low of 14.2. Hoping for something better than our 0.1" last night.
  3. So, models are at least interesting for the area tomorrow night...what are we thinking? Cold rain with some mangled flakes or something to get us on the board? I told my wife a week ago, if we don't get any snow out of this cold pattern that we are moving to Ireland...I'm hoping tomorrow night doesn't ruin the threat, Lol
  4. so what you are saying is, there is a sub tropical "warm front" that keeps pushing northward (CC induced). Only, it is hitting the polar jets further north than it typically would have pre-CC era. However, recently over the past 10-20 years, it has made it so far north during the winter season that a stronger battle has developed ie...stronger geostrophic winds? Just trying to see if I am on the right path of understanding what you have posted...
  5. Add me to that list......No expectations this year and any year moving forward. I will celebrate dustings like they are blizzards, LOL.
  6. Is there a HRRR/GFS rule? Just kinding, but they are pretty similar in trying to flip Fairfield County over to heavy snow. Another case where the hill behind me might pick up a couple inches and I have white rain....should be fun to watch it develop, if it does
  7. Lol, GFS clown with 12+ over Fairfield county.....I guess where that low comes in and deepens determine who sees some flakes, Ridgefield hills will probably see a couple slushy inches in that scenario
  8. Early season melting for us, IF the thermals on the GFS or just the GFS for that matter could be believed...
  9. 0.42" in the Stratus this morning.....44.2 currently
  10. During my college years in the early 2000s, I seem to remember having one of these storms in early December, multiple years in a row. Any similarities?
  11. 1.47" since the flood in August, nearly 3 months already....let's make up that deficit with some cold air around
  12. Just hit 45⁰ off a low of 17.8⁰....doesn't feel too bad with the sun and light winds.
  13. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say someone in CT will see their first flakes of the season by the end of the month, most likely mangled and 35⁰ at that, but hey it's something. Then, we torch....
  14. Yeah, let's not go for the worse part...I don't have time to sweat any details at this point. So let's just get some snow and a nice Spring starting in March.
  15. After the last 2 seasons my expectations are so low. So at this point get me above 25 inches for the year and it will feel like a victory. The pattern has been pretty consistent, even with the gulf cane's showing up every few weeks. But things start to look different into Turkey week.... 21⁰ this morning, teens are almost a lock tomorrow morning
  16. 22⁰ this morning, had some clouds early on, otherwise we would have made it below 20.....the Norway maples are dropping leaves at a steady rate this morning, finally. Oaks will hold on until January, stick season is here
  17. We have been so dry around here that fires are starting from just mowing, countless mower fires in the past week. One recently on the hill, behind our caldesac. Kinda scary knowing how dry and fast these fires are moving. Just stacked our final 2 cords, at least we get to run the wood stove tonight. Finally feels like fall for a change....sub 20⁰ here by morning? Already down to 32.5⁰.
  18. I have been noticing blocking starting to show up in the 10-15 day on both the GEFS and EPS. I would assume the 12z GFS run took that look into account this run, I will assume the 18z will replace the 12z trough with a ridge around here. But at least it is nice to look at, there is cold somewhere in North America to snow....I guess that is the first step at this point
  19. 23.2⁰, up to 30 now...looks and feels like it could snow. But 80 will still feel fantastic later this week....
  20. 24.8⁰, coldest of the season.....sun just peaking over the hill, so thankfully we should start warming up soon. Looking forward to the 70s next week.
  21. Hit 82.4⁰, despite some afternoon clouds. Still 80.2⁰ at 4:40 in the afternoon. The low was 41.7⁰, so a nice 40 degree swing today, just finished up some wiffle ball with the kids and ended sweating like it was summertime. No complaints....
  22. 75.4⁰/57⁰, definitely warm out there even with the breeze....
