I have a 4' pile of sleet on the ground under where two parts of my roof intersect. Its like a sleetvalanch coming down that corner.

Yea its basically a driving rain storm but you don't get wet. Not sure I've ever seen sleet this hard.

Was supposed to be skiing this weekend with the kids having a 3 day weekend, but the single digit temps killed that plan. Might try just myself later in the week but temps are frigid through next weekend. Dumping sleet in Ellicott City right now. Measured 6" prior to the flip.

Surface level cold, the upper levels get blasted with warmth from the south. Someone smarter than me can explain how when the coastal low bombs out it brings in cold air. Something about the wind direction I believe.

Yea I remember in the early 90s having to take a hammer and chisel to our driveway because there was at least 1/2" of ice on everything. It actually was a bad thing that we shoveled the snow off because anything that still had some snow left on it, the ice came up easy. Bare surfaces the ice had adhered to and didn't want to let go.

As someone with way too much insight in how these crappy things work, can you click on the weather and bring up the larger notification panel? See what city it is forecasting for. If you are using a VPN or your ISP gives you an IP that is registered somewhere else, the geolocation stuff isn't smart enough to figure it out. I also don't think EC is getting an inch of rain, but they really cover their bases with "up to". NWS has me .2-.5".

Yes, too bad there isn't an X somewhere on the map pointing it out. Maybe over by Whistler, or the Canadian Rockies? Also, that is a terrible map for western md. 30-40"!!!
