  1. I installed a whole house dehumidifier when I built my house. Best investment ever. It feels so good walking in from the jungle outside.
  2. My mom lives about 4 miles from me in Howard County. Yesterday we got some sprinkles, but she had gutter overflowing downpours. These storms are unpredictable and the area they pop up get absolutely demolished. I don't think any guidance will pin point the exact location of these storms thus the larger watch areas.
  3. Washed the beach salt off my car this morning and boy was it soupy out. Glad the sun wasn't shining or I might be passed out on the pavement.
  4. I love watching storms roll through the beach in the evening. Took this pic last night as the first line was coming through. There were a surprising number of idiots still on the beach even with thunder and visible lightning.
  5. Probably the difference with so many ffw is the amount of impervious ground cover has increased since we were kids. There is less buffer for rain to soak into before it hits the rivers and creeks. I'm not sure what pattern is causing this but the thunderstorms this season seem more "tropical" and not frontal. Last night looked like a typical frontal passage t-storm. Prior to that we had those meandering pop up storms that dump a ton of rain in a small area then go poof.
  6. 10 degree jump in 5 days, not too bad! Usually the lake tops out in the low 80s in July/August.
  7. Nothing but rain and humidity out in Western MD. I could really use another drought right about now.
  8. Well I saw the sun for an hour or so, looks like I'm about to be crushed by that line moving through HoCo. Just in time for our end of season party at the park
  9. Don't worry, our summers are now July-October :). I could really use a nice stretch of sunny days. Constant threat of clouds/rain is getting old. My girls are trying to get in their championship game but the weather isn't cooperating.
  10. Persistent drizzle / mist can stop anytime soon in HoCo.
  11. We have seen a bunch of green "inch" worms the last couple weeks. At least the lake is full with all the rain we've had, would be nice to get some warmer temps, haven't had the guts to jump in yet
  12. Woke up to some rain showers, can we hold off on heavy rain one more day please? 13U champ game is tonight!
  13. Yuck. Didn't something eat all the leaves last year too?
  14. HEAVY rain in Ellicott City. Wouldn't want to be downtown right about now. My backyard is now a river and I'm on high ground!
  15. I'm ready for summer lake/beach weather. Deep creek lake water temp is currently 57 and OCMD is 61. Gimme some HHH!
  16. Looks good to me. Kids haven't played softball in over a week and we *might* get an outfield only practice in tonight. HoCo needs to invest in a Dome or fix the drainage on their fields because it is taking FOREVER for them to dry out.
  17. I built a fire in the stove! Gonna be a chilly weekend!
  18. Theres no way that next line can split us, can it??
  19. We don't get deep, wide precipitation bands anymore. Looking at radar I would expect that look in the tropics or out in Hawaii. Lots of individual cells that pop up / disappear quickly. Not sure what is the reason behind it.
  20. Crazy winds and sideways rain, lasted for about 5 minutes. Oak pollen strands clogged my gutters up good!
  21. Great, t-storm incoming just as we are leaving for OPACY.
  22. Add in 9am - 1pm Saturday. My kids have had 3 softball rain outs in the first two weeks.
  23. Been kinda hazy. Smoke from wildfires, pollution, pollen? Combo of everything?
  24. I know we need the rain but.. most likely three softball events this weekend are gonna be cancelled. Why can't it do this during the week!
