  1. Woo-wee, I thought I'd escape the heat by heading north but its been hot the past week in the finger lakes and now Niagara falls. At least the humidity is low. Been dry too, grass is burned up and they just issued a burn ban, not that sitting by a campfire sounds appealing right now.
  2. GOES-19 CONUS - GeoColor - NOAA / NESDIS / STAR Everything seems to be stationary, maybe even a little back building of the western part of the clouds.
  3. Wasn't it supposed to be sunny? This summer has been a difficult one to make outdoor plans.
  4. It was, complete 180 this summer. Kinda glad it never rained last summer since we were building an addition haha. I woulda been super pissed if I was building this summer. Constant wash outs and mud I bet. Our dock access right of way keeps getting washed out. I've been here 5 years and other neighbors 20+ and they said they've never had these types of issues with the access road.
  5. Glad we got a couple sunny days at the lake but today we are back to the continuous pop up heavy showers. Just yesterday, today's forecast was sunny. Feel like its south florida not the mountains.
  6. Its hard to judge tone/intent over a message board. I would suggest if you are just looking for a friendly conversation, not to use "???????????" and '.............." when asking a question or making a comment. Maybe instead of "Wheres the rain????????????" it could have been "Hey I noticed the last several days we were forecast to get a ton of rain, but I haven't seen much at all, what do you think is the reason?" Back on topic - Boy has it been wet in Western Maryland. Barely got any swimming/lake time in over the last couple days. Super humid, mostly cloudy and constant rain showers rolling through. Some of which were HEAVY downpours. Talking with some locals and they don't remember a wet stretch like this in quite some time. Making outdoor construction/projects difficult because the ground just never dries out. We drove home late last night and it was crazy foggy in certain spots and ran into a pop up rain storm when we arrived back in EC, I kinda felt like Eeyore lol. Looking forward to Monday and a trip to Hershey park!
  7. Super heavy rain in Deep Creek, these dots keep cycling through on radar. One minute its a wall of water, the next suns out.
  8. Can't even escape the humidity in the mountains.. @nj2va I don't remember summers this humid, you've been out here longer, do you?
  9. When society ends up in a walking dead type situation can I join your compound? I can help you dig and build stuff!
  10. I installed a whole house dehumidifier when I built my house. Best investment ever. It feels so good walking in from the jungle outside.
  11. My mom lives about 4 miles from me in Howard County. Yesterday we got some sprinkles, but she had gutter overflowing downpours. These storms are unpredictable and the area they pop up get absolutely demolished. I don't think any guidance will pin point the exact location of these storms thus the larger watch areas.
  12. Washed the beach salt off my car this morning and boy was it soupy out. Glad the sun wasn't shining or I might be passed out on the pavement.
  13. I love watching storms roll through the beach in the evening. Took this pic last night as the first line was coming through. There were a surprising number of idiots still on the beach even with thunder and visible lightning.
  14. Probably the difference with so many ffw is the amount of impervious ground cover has increased since we were kids. There is less buffer for rain to soak into before it hits the rivers and creeks. I'm not sure what pattern is causing this but the thunderstorms this season seem more "tropical" and not frontal. Last night looked like a typical frontal passage t-storm. Prior to that we had those meandering pop up storms that dump a ton of rain in a small area then go poof.
  15. 10 degree jump in 5 days, not too bad! Usually the lake tops out in the low 80s in July/August.
  16. Nothing but rain and humidity out in Western MD. I could really use another drought right about now.
  17. Well I saw the sun for an hour or so, looks like I'm about to be crushed by that line moving through HoCo. Just in time for our end of season party at the park
  18. Don't worry, our summers are now July-October :). I could really use a nice stretch of sunny days. Constant threat of clouds/rain is getting old. My girls are trying to get in their championship game but the weather isn't cooperating.
  19. Persistent drizzle / mist can stop anytime soon in HoCo.
  20. We have seen a bunch of green "inch" worms the last couple weeks. At least the lake is full with all the rain we've had, would be nice to get some warmer temps, haven't had the guts to jump in yet
  21. Woke up to some rain showers, can we hold off on heavy rain one more day please? 13U champ game is tonight!
  22. Yuck. Didn't something eat all the leaves last year too?
  23. HEAVY rain in Ellicott City. Wouldn't want to be downtown right about now. My backyard is now a river and I'm on high ground!
  24. I'm ready for summer lake/beach weather. Deep creek lake water temp is currently 57 and OCMD is 61. Gimme some HHH!
  25. Looks good to me. Kids haven't played softball in over a week and we *might* get an outfield only practice in tonight. HoCo needs to invest in a Dome or fix the drainage on their fields because it is taking FOREVER for them to dry out.
