Finally got down to 37° after being stuck at almost 40° for a couple hours. Now I feel like we're headed in the right direction. Precip will move into the Triad by 1am. Lets go!
This first wave is gonna flip to all snow as it crosses the Va border tonight. Maybe @Buddy1987 @BornAgain13you have some early wins to look forward to.
Why does it seem like this first wave is multiple hours ahead of schedule? My forecast, and RAH, is saying snow well into the afternoon tomorrow. Thats a loooong event if the precip shield fills in.
Where are all the snow reports from the mountains? Radar lighting up everywhere out west!
Nevermind...I see all those altitude afflicted folks are too good to come over here and post in the obs thread. They have their own little special drinks and probably even a secret handshake for get togethers.
39.9 in the heart of the Triad. 36 on the farm in Stuart. Progress!
For you north of Danville, yes. But in the central piedmont and as you move down towards CLT no. Even the last guidance from RAH is calling for wet snow with surface temps just above freezing.
Oddly enough, if you take DT's call map and slide it 50-75 miles southwest like I said earlier you end up with what looks like the RAP forecast here. I can easily see this being our outcome.
Sounds to me like you've been reading that special weather book written by some crusty old lifetime North Carolinian called "33 and rain: A story of my life and North Carolina Winter Weather". Most of us have that book on the shelf in these parts and drag it out at least once each year.
Well DT didn't hold back! I'm a little lost on why he scaled back the mountain and western foothill totals. It would seem his entire chart should be shifted 50-75 miles southwest.
Stuart Va went from 8" on the HRRR to zero on the NAM. Dont want to be on the wrong side of the railroad tracks with this one. Difference between a touchdown and a pick6.
