  1. The post mortem on this one is going to be interesting. 30 hours out and still no clear cut consensus.
  2. I think there needs to be a rule around using terms like "crushed, boom, pounded, destroyed, hammered, drops the hammer, big dog, etc". Minimum of 6" on the model run to use these terms. I mean you cant just post the RGEM or HRRR run showing a 3" snowfall and toss out BOOM with a straight face. Besides, Burger would be highly disappointed that we hijacked his buzzword for run of the mill events.
  3. Thanks for posting this and the explanation. This looks more reasonable to me from what my non-red tag eyes are seeing. But I don't get paid for this....except to plow other people's driveways.
  4. If Blacksburg is saying it was going to snow 4-5" but only accumulate 2" I could believe their map. But not much I've seen today indicates only 2" from Wilkesboro to Mount Airy to Martinsville. They can always increase tomorrow after another round of model runs I suppose.
  5. After that last NAM run somebody will be posting the ground temp maps in 3..2..1.. Liking my chances either in the Triad or in Stuart, VA. But I've been waiting to capture some snow drone footage and also wanting to film around Lover's Leap over towards Hillsville. This could be the best of both worlds so I may be mobile come Friday morning.
  6. All these models giving my farm in Stuart VA a mini-jackpot of 6-7" makes me think I will be working from there come Friday morning instead of Kernersville. Either way the trends for the Triad have no where to go but up after the 18z NAM played reverse psychology on the forum.
  7. NAM always sniffs out the warm nose. If its hinting at it early in the run, I'll stay keen to watch that over the next 48 hours.
  8. I heard you were closely related to a blind squirrel.
  9. I was happy to see the few flakes I saw. It was real to think a lot of us were very close to a white Christmas. But we still needed a little magic to get there. We're on to 2021!
  10. I'm afraid so. Going to have to call this one mostly a fail. Maybe a C just for the added excitement on Christmas, and, I have a full covering at the farm in Stuart. Happy for the mountain folks who mostly scored big! Merry Christmas!
  11. Good. We're at the end game. we have about 90 minutes of precip left and need a solid hour of that to be snow to have any chance of eeking out a dusting. I just want the pic.
  12. Full changeover in Stuart VA! Snowing nicely on the cams. Sweet! Edit - roof already covered! Really coming down hard now!
  13. Sounds like pingers on my security cams in stuart. Maybe a changeover! Where the heck are our southern VA friends? @Buddy1987 where you at?
  14. Snow showers showing up all the way down to Columbus Ga!
  15. Thats crazy. I run just about in sync with INT since I'm only 4 miles away. I'm at 40° and you are only 5 -7 miles from me. Super tight gradient!
  16. You have to be seconds away from a big drop.
  17. Go stand outside and count to 10. Its coming fast!
  18. Temp just fell out here in Kernersville. Front is coming thru. Dropped 6° in minutes. 49° now and windy. My Lord! Down another 8° in just minutes!! 41° now!!
  19. Looking at wind speeds I'd say its right around Bermuda Run on I40 and Huntsville on 421. Comin' in hot! (Er, cold!) Edit - I had a delayed read on my temp gauge in Stuart. Down to 42° now. Dropped 13° in less than 30 minutes.
  20. Yeah, I'm quickly leaning into the doubter camp here looking at the current radar. That freezing line got held up in the mountains just long enough to let the moisture escape. It looked good for a while though. If we get anything frozen I'm starting to think it will be from the banding showing up in TN, maybe swinging thru the piedmont before daybreak. I think I'll get some flakes tonight on camera at the farm in Stuart, just not here in the triad. Edit - front is knocking on the door in Stuart. Just dropped 2° in 10 minutes. Game on.
  21. The temp drops are stunning out in the foothills. It will be quick!
  22. Lost the Christmas magic in your advanced years old man? I'm a Bengals fan, we just beat the Steelers with Ryan Finley at QB.....it's snowing tonight. Bank on it!
  23. Wow, this thing crapped out fast. I can take a defeat or two this early in December. But this better not be indicative of Jan-Mar.
  24. Local forecast now calling for moderate snow accums at the farm in Stuart, Va. May be working from there on Wednesday! 1,400' elevation can make all the difference on these marginal events.
