  1. In upper manhattan: my high was about 97.5 F at 3 PM. Now I'm at 94.1 F. I'm not sure how accurate my sensor is though. I'm ready for the rain.
  2. For some reason, my thermometer has stuck closer to the Park than anything else. It has stayed a little cooler. That might be because my neighborhood in upper Manhattan is a little cooler than many others (based on maps I have seen), and my sensor is higher up next to an apartment. I'm at 89.8F now.
  3. It's cooling off a little bit here. My thermometer is at 94F now. (Upper Manhattan)
  4. The HRRR seems to think it will stay north. It's pushing south, but it doesn't seem to be making much headway. We'll see though!
  5. On July 22, 2011, at one point, the temperature was 103 and the dewpoint was 71 at Central Park. --> HI 113 F. It will be interesting to see if we beat that heat index this weekend.
  6. Teterboro's temperature sensor acted a little odd today - does this seem right, or could there be some problem? (such as sun exposure) (such as
  7. Poof! Goes the storm. I don’t mind, yesterday was enough rain
  8. The storm in NJ near Newark is pushing north, it seems like it will affect upper Manhattan, as well as Midtown.
  9. It's starting to look like Sunday will be warmer than Saturday
  10. There were lightning strikes all around and thunder in upper Manhattan. My cat didn’t seem to care very much though.

  12. I'm not a met but there's a huge fire at Elmwood Park NJ in a paper factory. The smoke from it must be picking up on radar. The weather app probably uses the radar to find the type of precipitation instead of observations from weather stations.
  13. It’s likely because the howling NW winds prevented radiational cooling there, but helped the city cool down by bringing in air not affected by the heat island
  14. I’d go with 6-8 F, just because the models are often a little too cold for the city (except for the GFS which can be too high in the close range)
  15. There is a lot of historical data available at the ACIS website, here: http://scacis.rcc-acis.org/. There are lots of cool features like the accumulation graph which shows how our year's rainfall has compared to other years.
  16. That would be great, tellies sounds very weird and I don’t like it... maybe we can say Tconns if really short on time or just say teleconnections. It looks like it will become warmer and then it will become cool again around 11/27 or 11/28. I don’t think we’ll see any more snow this month but I think that 12/3 to 12/10 is a time to watch.
  17. About 30 minutes ago I measured 6-6.5 inches snow in Upper Manhattan. Looking close to Central Park
  18. I have 5-5.5” in Manhattan. I will go to check again soon though
  19. According to Google Maps it would take 1 hour and 52 minutes to drive from the southern tip of Manhattan to the northern tip of Manhattan, along the fastest route. Judging the condition of the roads now it makes sense
  20. Where I am in Upper Manhattan no surfaces were spared. On the parts where no cars went there around around 3 inches of snow on the roads, and I measured about 5-5.5 inches on grassy areas.
  21. I measure 5.5 inches in Uptown Manhattan, still coming down
  22. Right now I am looking at radar and the snow / mix line seems to be going from the MS/AL/TN border to Caducah IL in Southern Illinois, while the Mix / Rain line is going from that point to Louisville KY. There seems to be a lot more sleet present than the NAM / RGEM shows, pushing th eline a little bit east. This might not mean much but we could see more sleet than predicted.
