Buying that pass yesterday had me watching our old videos in the background while working today. Got thinking about getting the legs ready since no hockey this year.

Random thought, I'm curious how places like Jay, Stowe, Whiteface, Killington, Stratton, and Loon are going to deal with the issue of enclosed lifts. K, Stratton, and Loon especially. Less of an issue for Cannon...I guess the same for Jay because their upper mountain lifts rarely spin lol.

Hard to beat the Indy pass. $199, blacked out holidays (we don't bother then anyway for the most part). Plan on 2 days at Berkie, Catamount, Mohawk, Pat's, and maybe Cannon (if Tramline and some decent stuff is open). Getting to Magic and Bolton will be bonuses. Hope to hit Greylock a few times and finally be able to ski the Powerline.

K sounds pretty rough too, damn. I'd want to get away from there. There are so many other places that have little drama and are all about loving being on the mountain or outside.. My home mountain has nothing of the sort in terms of toxicity, and its almost closed multiple times or had little/no snowmaking or running lifts in previous years lol

You have more than that up there (e.g., that stunning old portrait of Patrick Swayze in the woods lol).

Any out will be a bonus day. It may never start or end at anytime.

There was a large barbed wire fence ~15 years ago to the left of the summit double. Then my buddy had his pants sliced open while skiing Carter Glades probably 7-8 years ago. I know the ski area boundary is old barbed wire on skiers left side of the area. There is/were also several old electric wire fences for keeping livestock and sap lines scattered around the woods of the lower mountain. It gives a new meaning to "hidden obstacles."

That is a sweet place to be in terms of NH skiing. Don't know if I would ever leave Wildcat or Black Mountain. Anyone know if the woods of Black Mountain are still loaded with barbed wire?

Idk how they will enforce it but the county sherrifs were pulling over lots of out of state plates in the spring. Not sure if you've hit it but Platty is pretty amazing and cheap option as well. Probably averages more snow than Gore and definitely better conditions than Whiteface. Their elevation saves them and their marked and unmarked terrain is pretty special.

About .5" and temp dropping to 61*. Torched and steined again.

I checked out some videos of Bousquet after Berkshire East acquired it. Their upper liftline looks like the most technical skiing in Mass with big rocks and ledges. Wouldn't mind returning to Catamount after 15 years. Always a fun steep hill.

Not sure, luckily there are plenty of spots within 90 minutes and a quite a few in the Berks that get a lot of snow given VT's quarantine procedures.

Trying to do reservations is going to be a mess. Lots of skinning for us this winter. Makes it easier with the baby as well.

Yup, definitely got some 30 mph or so. Power flickered while teaching on zoom.

Yea that is very apparent. I thought it was not modeled to really push north for 3-4 more hours though.

Been watching that too. Many times the morning of we see things back down a bit in terms of potential. Just ride it out.

Not as isolated either. Only certainty is we either see a lot of "DAMAGE" or "stein" posts tomorrow.

If we are going to be stuck in Mass then Berkshire East is the best terrain we have...unless we all storm Brodie.

Yea I could not imagine it. I only ski it on weekdays after a decent storm, it gets scrapped down fast (see pic). The pucker section is almost the length of Upper Giant Killer. In the above pic is my wife, it was her 3rd year skiing I believe the first time she did it. When asking about a new trail she always asks if it is more difficult than the Poma Line. The next lift service/unmarked thing I would love to ski are the Survey Lines at Smuggs. I've only seen one video and it looks similar but more intimidating.

The old Poma line or the back side? Back side is flat. I don't know how people rode up that thing, so damn steep. The narrowness, old footings, and steel cable along with ice falls makes it one of the harder trails around. Typically survival skiing because getting a good flow would take a ton of snow and if you get much speed you'll be screwed. And I've hit it on 28" of fresh, still bare spots.

I always found Pico to be much more friendly and lax lol

It's probably the combination of the VT plate, Subaru, and driver rocking Birkenstocks with wool socks while blasting some "Fire on the Mountain" getting stuck on the beach than just the VT plate lol
