  1. sounds like you're on board the snowy March train after a one week hiatus with mild and sunny weather this week
  2. Thats the only state that hasn't had snow this season, even Hawaii has had snow (they get it every year in the mountains.) Florida is the only state not touched by the arctic yet.
  3. you have to have a sense of humor to tolerate their mud season lol
  4. radar timestamp says 2/21 lol...lmao I didn't see the 1 in front! we write dates differently here in America
  5. Seeing totals nearing 7 inches in queens and western nassau
  6. NYC has 38 inches, I think they'll easily get another 2 inches at some point to reach 40.....we've had 4 inch snowstorms in March before with temps above freezing during the day!
  7. yes 1996 was my all time favorite. I like breaks in the wintry pattern and nature cleaning up the snow before a fresh batch falls.
  8. he should be unbanned for the first day of every month to start a monthly thread and then rebanned as soon as he starts it, rinse and repeat lol
  9. This has been a great event but my favorite was the one we had Superbowl Sunday where it snowed all day and ended just in time for an amazing sunset. I like the snow to end just before sunset and then have a spectacular sunset to take pictures of the snow in.
  10. Yes this is more like what you see in the mountains
  11. I bet it'll snow until sometime tonight, maybe 10 PM to midnight?
  12. The world is round so it's natural that everything is interconnected
  13. Right and combining arctic air with warmer than normal waters can often have explosive results. Note how the arctic air didn't make it into Florida, which many of those 80s arctic outbreaks did. This shows the boundary was close to us, which is great for generating storminess here.
  14. 1995-96, 2010-11 and 2017-18 are my three favorites!
  15. Isn't the IO warming faster than any other ocean, Chris? If that's the case then it may be having downstream effects on the Pacific and so forth. MJO Phase 8 is becoming rare.
  16. Chris is this also directly connected with how we're seeing bigger snowfalls now with arctic outbreaks and in general vs back then?
  17. Looks like Bayside has reached 6" too. Many of us may be in the 6-8 range originally predicted by the end of this.
  18. will we have to start thinking about Atlantic SST cycles too? I remember when warmer Atlantic waters were in our favor because it caused faster bombing systems, has that warming gone too far now?
  19. snowfall the size of paper plates is awesome to see lol. I hope we get this at least once a week through early April The heat can come after Tax Day lol
  20. yes cant wait for the sun! the snow has been awesome but a few days of sunshine and a break would be nice
  21. I bet somewhere on the Island hit 100" that season. I know the Cape has.
  22. it's been snowing here nicely since 9:30, about an inch or so to freshen things up
