That was the craziest fall- haven't seen one like it since. Basically went from this historic severe weather outbreak to like a week straight of high winds, with all the leaves down before Thanksgiving, to this dry powdery snowfall that stuck to the roads immediately. And the NYC measurement of 4.7 only tells part of the story, south and east of the city there was double that much snow, with 6" here in western LI and 10" out on the east end and also down in central and southern NJ including ACY. Then we went into the deep freeze for all of December, with small 1-2" clippers all month, but it was so damn cold that what little snow fell hung around all month and our waterways froze over. There was only a small thaw in the middle of the month that came from a blown forecast of 6-8 inches of snow but the secondary formed too close to the coast and instead of thundersnow we got thunder rain lol. Then record warmth with a 40 degree avg temp for Jan and Feb combined and then historic mid and upper 80s and Bermuda shorts by Mid March lol- no need to go anywhere for spring break that year! And that busted snowfall forecast was the diametric opposite of the blown call the previous February when we were also supposed to get 6-8 inches of snow but got 6-8 inches of virga instead as the snow fell to our south, up to 20 inches near ACY. Ah, those were the days.....
