  1. I was just thinking about that! That night with all the wind and snow was unforgettable. There was snow sticking to the sides of houses!
  2. oh thats really sad, thats where I grew up (closer to Ocean Pkwy but in the same general area.) Eastern Pkwy was two stops before mine on the F Train.
  3. 30 mph is what I'd say we have here too, enjoying the rain more though (I like precip more than wind anyway.)
  4. Getting some gusts here too, with the trees bending a little I'd say they're 20-25 I use environmental indicators and the Beaufort wind scale to measure wind: https://www.spc.noaa.gov/faq/tornado/beaufort.html Looks like it's a 6 on that scale, a strong breeze, about 22-27 kts.
  5. Haha I just saw something that about made me drop my sandwich. A map showing 3-5 additional inches of rain for most of the tristate area with a bullseye of 5-8 inches from Queens out to most of Long Island. I wonder what model that came from (they were showing it on TWC and it was labeled as Euro, but the Euro hasn't come out yet.)
  6. I think all the power outages in Rhode Island might be the worst impact there. I love big storms and all but draw the line at power outages. It's not fun to lose access to civilization and technology for multiple days. And even moreso with what looks like a surge of heat coming for us.....I saw even the south shore could hit 90 on Tuesday, this isn't going to be fun and even less so without power.
  7. The way we measure storms has to change. It's not just about wind speed it's also about size. That's what truly determines how strong and devastating a storm can be- its total energy. Doing that shows that Sandy was the strongest storm to ever hit our region.
  8. where this made landfall didn't even matter because it's a mid grade TS at best, it's where all the rain is falling that really matters. From NJ over to our region has been where this storm has really made an impact.
  9. as I suspected this is going to be a tropical storm at landfall and not a really strong one either. Worst effects will be where the most rains fall.
  10. severe flooding already happening and constant lightning makes me worry about electrocution, we have water rescues ongoing
